"WORST FOOD EVER! Ordered food through the just eat app. Took nearly to arrive... when it did, it was cold uncooked and bloody disgusting! Mixed Kebab... chips microwaved! No taste and cold yet like rubber! Chicken soggy.. kebab meat pink and tasteless.! burger......buns were stale.! Burgers were under cooked.. no taste and no way the salad had more flavour.!! burger... same as above! Even the dog wouldn't eat it! Fish Bites... arrived cold, soggy and crushed.! Extra onion rings.. each. (We had these were soggy and no bigger than Overall shocking... will never recommend or use this place again.! Before throwing away this order I took plenty of pictures... now following the protocols of just eat and if this doesn't work I'll be contacting the relevant authorities. This isn't food fit for human consumption... chrikey, the dogs didn't want it either!!!"

"Most disappointed with our treatment at the Wheel this Saturday. I attended the Wheel to meet my son for lunch and drinks. He was initially refused drinks as the landlord decided that he was drunk. We were eventually served drinks and lunch before being asked to leave. We had both been drinking elsewhere before arriving yet we certainly were not drunk. There are many examples of their customers, etc having had far more to drink than us at the Wheel. Had the landlord listened to anything that I was telling him, he would have realized that my son was actually out of breathe from running to meet me. I am a gentleman in his mid 50's, not a trouble maker nor a stranger. I have supported this pub for many years. I am genuinely concerned for the future of local businesses and always had it in mind to support the Wheel in particular once lockdown had finished. Myself and my family friends had been their only customers on occasions. I have never been refused service at a pub before. The decision to do so I found most insulting."

"Here a couple of times now and that eating is good, various packings and kebabs, although not trying to fish and chips. Unfortunately, it feels like it's a sacrifice of its own success, it's always chaotic. fair enough when eating is cooked to order, they expect a bit to wait, but tonight, waited for 40 minutes for 2 kebabs according to the said it would be 10 to 15 minutes. looks as if people were wise and pre-ordered over the phone, which simply adds to the waiting time when they go in. I hope they sorted it. especially on a Friday night."

"By deliveroo ordered and they took forever a driver to gather the food. will move forward in the future. Eat was still very nice, we called for extra sauce to ask after we had placed our order and the guy on the phone was super friendly and helpful. we're coming back."

"I have a rule. If something’s on groupon, it’s on groupon for a reason. There’s nothing out of the ordinary to report following a family meal here. It is what it is. A cheap carvery for the family, and that’s what you get. A little dated, and felt like I’d been transported back to the set of the shining, but the staff were very helpful and the food was reasonable. If I tried to find fault, it would be the aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire puddings and I’ve no doubt the roast potatoes were from the freezer, but for 4 to eat for £25 I couldn’t grumble without effort. Feels like it needs an overhaul, but was busy and friendly. We’d probably go back if passing."

"Great view and beautiful period building. Restaurant is clean and has a nice welcoming atmosphere. There was a slight issue with one of the meals but Aimee handled it exceptionally and it was soon resolved. She was extremely friendly and is a credit to your team. The Gammon steak was fantastic full of flavour and succulent. We will certainly be coming again and definitely recommend this place for it’s fresh and tasty food."

"Was introduced to this place on a business trip. The host recommended the “Welly Burger”. Let me tell you the burger was amazing! It is served with onion rings and chips and is topped with fried onion, tomato and lettuce! Highly recommend! Bring your appetite because it is a large burger!"

"Visited Calke Abbey and Googled for local pubs with a garden. This pub does have a garden but it is poorly maintained and not attractive. Shan't be going back."
