"We had a really good family meal with excellent food, very good service and they coped with a toddler in a high chair perfectly. Starters were very good including the brie, pate and beetroot hummus. Mains went down well including fish and chips, fish stew and the vegetable parcels. One to visit again."

"I waited for almost an hour for my order- I was third in the queue when I arrived but while I was waiting for my food, a lady and young boy walked in and placed their order (they would have been at least people...behind me in the queue at this point) but the staff decided to make their food first and gave it to them before any of us who had ordered before. SHOCKINGbehaviour in front of other customers who could blatantly see that they had to wait longer while friends got served first! Food is average and customer service poor I would recommend trying somewhere else"

"Decided to venture out to see what life was like in the local Pub, faced with two door staff who were only advising people to disinfect hands by dispenser by door this was empty, no request to complete any track trace forms..Went to the...Bar bought drinks then found a table had not been wiped or cleaned then noticed smoking area was pretty full of people no social distancing. Long queues formed by the Bar which snaked past people’s tables all very uncomfortable. Whilst the drinks were good value it appeared any concept of extra staff ensuring surfaces were cleaned or numbers of individuals occupying tables did not appear to be enforced, come on Spoons yon need to sometimes forget about profit."

"I have to write this as yet again have used this chip shop and been more than disappointed. When freshly cooked the food is okay. Years ago, fish was skinned, but not sure about now. That was a bonus. As others say, large portions of chips, but no good if they’ve been sitting there, keeping warm. This was my local chip shop and have been going there for many years, but it’s pot luck, very hit and miss, and time of visit determines the quality of the food. We’ve tried all permutations! In the past we’ve been served, warmed up items early evening, just after opening.On one occasion we had to take food back. Another time threw it away. If you go in probably 1/2 hour after opening, the food, providing freshly cooked, is good, but when time goes on I can only presume that the food is left sitting there! Battered sausages served recently were like rubber with terrible batter, and fish cakes, hard, terrible! The chips were scrappy. It’s just not good enough! The other shops in the area cook to order, so that the food is fresh. It’s no use serving loads of chips if they are not nice! Some of the food is cooked when they open it seems and left in a cabinet. If you go in at around 1pm this problem can occur, the fish at that time is cooked to order, we think, it’s more the sundries that sit there for a long time. We’ve had fish that’s terrible and sausages also fish cakes. Hadn’t been for a long time before this visit, but no change so will not return any time soon. Having said this the people are pleasant and it’s a very clean environment."

"Lovely meal one of the best we've had in a long time. Surrey Burger, hake, pizza and chocolate brownie are all top class. The servers were all great. They handled Gluten free well and had quite a few options although ours did take a while to be served. Totally let down by the manager and manageresses who looked like they were having a terrible day and couldn't crack a smile let alone pretend to be pleasant. Also, coming from a service industry, I find it poor form for them to be on their phone on a bar stool at the bar and taking up prime tables in the restaurant working on their laptops. Nevertheless, I would recommend the food and the (waitrons) service."

"First time in this pub for some time, and on arrival we went up to the bar, only to be told it 's table service only. Very odd, as since restrictions have been scrapped in the last month, this was the first time we 'd experienced restrictions in a pub like this. We sat at a table less than 6 feet from the bar, only to be fronted with a member of staff taking our drinks order. All the table staff seemed to be very young, and they had to write down the drinks order, only to take it less than 6 feet to the bar where they placed this down on the bar for the one bar person to serve. Whilst we were there, the staff were forever asking Are you alright for drinks? . We didn 't need to be asked, and when we did want another drink, we were happy to flag one of them down. It seemed ludicrous having this type of service, when it would have been better to be able to stand at the bar to order the drinks and then go to the table, allowing the table staff to wait on the tables that were having food served. I doubt that they would know any information about the available drinks, including brands and ABVs. It would have been better off having another member of bar staff, and less table staff. When we arrived around 6pm, there were four table staff hanging around the bar. It also seemed strange that they were all wearing long sleeved hoodies in August. We will be happy to re visit the pub when the operation of the pub is more reflective of the layout and service offered."
