"Extorsionate price for two meals, delivered to my house. Chips were nice, everything else was bland rubbish. Also put luke warm bottled drinks in with the food, which warmed the drinks and cooled the food. Have not been in years and won't be going again."

"Excellent, gourmet level food in a humble dining room with 4 booths and just 14 other chairs, staffed by friendly, helpful servers. Note, the name has changed since the previous review written in 2010. The 'Old ' has been deleted. The restaurant is now The Watch House. Google map the location. The address says Truro but the actual tiny seaside village is St. Maws. Use the public parking just to the right of building. The car park sign is obvious. 75 parking spots available. Then walk 200 yards to the eatery. My meal: delicious sweet potato purée. Slightly spicy with chili oil. Liquified with coconut milk. Croutons in a side cup to top onto the soup. Fish was whole sautéed plaice in clarified butter topped samphire capers. Adequate cup of chips on the side. Fried correctly and delicious. Wife 's meal: roasted tiger prawns, spicy exterior, juicy meat. I was a little surprised that the portion of 6 shrimp was considered a meal, as my plaice dish was comparatively huge. Also, shrimp came with no sides. So for £20 This dish is overpriced. But Barbara was satisfied. She ordered an extra side salad for £4. It was sparkling fresh. Small selection of locally made beers (by the bootle, no,casks), wines and a few cocktails on the menu. I had an ale made in neighboring Penryn, it was satisfying. Barbara had a glass of South African Pinot noir. It was passable at best. (I 'm a wine snob from Northern California) Verdict: good food, excellent service, not cheap. Meal described above price was £55. You can eat more economically. Fish and chips will set you back £14."

"Both my husband and I wanted to eat here and as we were down there, we booked a table. The staff was welcoming, the table was badly illuminated, it was difficult to read the menu. We chose our food and didn't have to wait long for our appetizers, I chose the goan mussels that were great, my men terrine was fine, but no bread served with it. The main thing was not as good as the appetizers, I chose the maple roasted squash pasta, the eingrediants seemed well cooked, although I wondered whether the squash at all roasted or simply boiled and added to the pasta, the overall dish was also added to salt, pepper and parmesan. I said I chose the wrong main choice. My husband Burger was also dry and tasteless, which for him as Burger disapointing are widely used as house speciality.(though he ate it all) The homemade chips were excellent. The contempt of the Pasta bowl was passed on to the staff because I did not eat much of it and they were very apologetic and wanted to put the situation right, they offered me something else to cook and a refund on the plate was agreed. Customer service and the desire that their patrons radiate the experience of the pub very clearly."

"We returned to the Musselbox this week full of excitement after a fantastic roast last October. We we sadly disappointed with mussels that promised so much (juicy and succulent) but which delivered little flavour from the marinere sauce. The food looked great but was lacking in the flavour sensation we experienced previously. The speed of service was fast but this in self meant out main courses arrived when we’d just finished our starters, plates hadn’t been cleared and we were in for less than 52 minutes before we’d had 2 courses and decided to go elsewhere for dessert"
