"Can’t praise staff highly enough for all the effort they went to to make a 70th birthday celebration special. The lady, whose birthday it was, had a number of dietary requirements. Most places, where we have previously eaten, pay little more than lip service when they say they cater for dietary requirements but, having made prior contact and spoken to the chef, here they produced a delicious 3 course meal which the whole group were able to enjoy. The staff were pleasant, efficient and attentive. The ambience was very pleasant and we couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable celebratory experience from start to finish."

"We go every week on midday to barkers to eat a meal, a great cappuccino for barbie and a topf earl grey tee for me. nice eating and always a great service of martin, tracy and josh. Our b B customers are recommended to go here when they visit helmsley and they all say a great place. probably the best caffe in helmsley. I'm not here."

"Having just visited Costellos I can honestly say that I definitely wouldn't return. On arrival we sat at the only table available, it had a tray full of dirty cups etc on it. I sat down and my Husband went to the counter. He stood there for almost ten minutes without any acknowledgement from the two members of staff behind the counter. When the girl finally took his order there wasn't any apology for the wait and the fact that the other people in the queue had been totally ignored up until that point. Coffees were made relatively quickly. The guy called out they were ready, hubby fetched them again no courtesy from this Guy. They had made numerous mistakes with the other customers orders who also didn't seem too pleased. Out table was never cleaned. No thank you and goodbye as we left. They both just stood chatting . What a shame such a lovely establishment is being let down by their staff."

"Our first visit here, and our first inside dining experience after lockdown, and it exceeded our expectations. What a fabulous place. The weather was awful, but I imagine on a lovely day with the bifolds open, it would be even more stunning. The service and...food were both excellent. We had asparagus, avocado and beetroot starters between us; and fish chips, a steak, fish pie and the slow cooked beef as mains. portions of the crumble for afters. This place is a gem, and even though it’s a bit of a trek for us to visit: it’s well worth it."
