"Me and my partner booked this trip as a celebration, by Lord what a way to celebrate. We received a lovely warm welcome from the owner, a tour of the establishment, and were shown to our room. We stayed in the Byland room, it’s beautiful; comfy beds, beautifully decorated, fresh milk in a mini personalised milk bottle, clean robes, fresh fluffy towels. I am over the moon with the place.The village it’s situated in is a lovely break from work, traffic and a hectic life. The food from the pub up the road is phenomenal. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough, cannot wait to come back to see what the owner had done to make it her own.I’m still in The Coxwold as I write this; that’s how excited about it."

"Love staff ,love food , shouldn't have got the halepinos though lol But got a £5 rice box with Chilli con carne and Wow massive and lovely Only gripe wish there was a bit more sauce with chilli con carne but a minor thing They probably had it but just never asked for it I'd give it 10* if I could , can't recommend it enough I'd walked past loads of times and decided to go in glad I did Only think they don't take cards but do bank transfer/PayPal cash. "This place has positive reviews, so I can only assume they struggle with the busier summer season and standards slip. Despite the places with lovely sea views offering vegan menus, we chose Gianni's, on a back street in town, due to the reviews. We tried to book ahead but the line was engaged (5 times), so we instead tried walking in for an early meal at 6pm. We were shown to a table and 3 menus were presented one showing specials, the other two a folder containing the main menu, a meat menu and the drinks menus. There was a line on the main menu stating that the vegan menu should be requested. The table next to us had new customers brought to it but despite being right next to us, we couldn't get the staff's attention to request the vegan menu. Eventually someone came over asking if we were ready to order and we were finally able to request the menu. One vegan menu was brought to us and we ordered cautiously, given that the table who came in after us already had their starter and it was huge. Depressingly, that menu stated that vegan wines were available, which is what I'd have preferred if we didn't have the beers we'd ordered in the apparent absence of vegan wines. We ordered the foccacia with olive oil and balsamic to share. Two plates were brought to us. They were dirty and greasy. We requested clean plates and the waiter brought two more plates that were also greasy. Clean plates were provided on the 3rd attempt. The olive oil and balsamic are presented in bottles. These are evidently not wiped between customers as both bottles were greasy. The foccacia arrived and was simply the worst I've had. It was dry and stodgy, perhaps made a couple of days before or perhaps even earlier and frozen. We left most of it. The pizza was huge but the toppings had amalgamated into an emulsion like slop, causing the thin base to taste like uncooked dough. The chips were fine, as was the basic side salad. We didn't order dessert after the meal we'd had. The staff are mainly very young people with no one directing them, so they spent most of the time standing in the doorways chatting. They knew to serve the food and clear the tables but they clearly have had little to no customer service training and were not checking the customers had what they needed and were happy. This place is inexpensive and the portions are large, but rather than authentic Italian food, we were left with a sense of quantity over quality."

"Called in for some lunch for a picnic and we weren't disappointed. The pork and meat pies are especially nice and the selection of cakes are amazing. So amazing in fact that we bought loads favourites were the salted caramel and lemon meringue tarts!...If you are after a friendly shop with lots sweet and savoury this is a great choice"

"I love setting, but dear. the personal tries, but do not understand the food, so the service is bad and slow. the kitchen made some mistakes on our table of two, unnecessary errors that could have been easily removed with the workout. the staff... they're sure, but they don't seem to have a lead."

"Been to Abigail's recently, the filter coffee and pot of tea were great and the buns and scones yummy, I never seen cream as thick in a Victoria sponge before. Prices were so cheap as well as buns, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and toasties were on offer. Abigail is generous with her portions and the buns and cakes etc are baked on site. A coffee, pot of tea and 2 scones cost only £4.47p, needless to say we were back the next day."
