"What can I say!! What an amazing experience I had here with my 9 children and nephew Hamlet. Firstly I would like to thank the manager and supervisor for being so understanding of my rowdy family and taking an interest in learning about all of them.. I even offered them free labor LOL!! Coffee was fantastic and we'll needed after running about after these eejits all day long lol Prompt service considering I ordered 11 drinks and 11 traybakes and served all with love and a smile. Hamlet is lactose intolerant and gluten free and they even met his needs too, poetic it was indeed! Needless to say I will be back and hope to be greeted by the same staff members if I'm lucky enough haha they were so beautiful. 20 stars xxxxx"

"I came here with my wife for lunch/coffee/tea on two occasions in the space of 2 weeks. I still quite like Ground Ballymena, although I don 't visit very often, but I think the quality of the food, and the decor in particular, has deteriorated a bit from in the past. This time, my wife and I gave our orders and sat on one of the sofas at the back on the ground floor. I mentioned this in my last review (nearly two years ago) but the chairs in particular could STILL do with replacing (or at least mending, if full replacement is too expensive). The base of the sofa we sat on had tears in the fabric, as did my armrest the same was true of the sofa opposite us. Personally, I 'm not a big fan of the grey interior, although I think most, if not all Ground Espresso Bars are decorated as such now. Today was quite a dull, grey day outside, and the cafe did little to brighten it inside there 's very little in the way of interesting decor, at least downstairs. I noticed as well that there weren 't very many customers downstairs, there was my wife, myself, and about four other customers in the space of about 30 45 minutes from approximately 1.20pm. Granted, maybe the weather has an impact on people coming out, but I remember days gone by whenever you could hardly find a seat in this place. It seems like those days are sadly gone. The food and coffee are nice, as is the tea (my wife had tea and I a regular sized Americano). Compared to other cafes and coffee shops in town, however, the food is quite basic and straightforward the menu never really changes or offers any specials . I suppose that 's fine if you don 't want anything overly fancy or sophisticated but if you 're looking for something a bit more substantial or interesting, there are quite a few other coffee shops nearby that serve better. Overall, Ground Ballymena is good the staff seem pleasant and there 's plenty of space to sit down and relax for an hour or three you 're never rushed out the door or timed . However, I think it is still somewhat stuck in the early 2010s. Since then, other coffee shops and cafes have popped up around town (and the surrounding areas) and have done reasonably well (or very well, in some cases). I know Ground have expanded into mainland Britain in the last year or so, and I congratulate them for that, but perhaps more investment needs put into more local stores like this one which, in my humble opinion, could do with a bit of TLC and rejuvenation. I 'm sure this store will still be around for the foreseeable future (I hope it is) but if it 's to attract and keep customers, it really needs to adapt and change."

"Take my son and brother with son for ice cream in hot day to Julianos as not been there before. Cleannles and help from staff was acceptable and pleasent. Prices acceptable. But that was all. Ice cream is situated on other end as cashier and they not hear you through. But real dissapoitment for us was taste of ice creams. No flavours. Not come back again probably."

"Out with a few friends for a meal at the Grouse before Christmas. I told staff before I ordered anything that I had Coeliac Disease and that it was really important that everything I was served was gluten free. Each time a course arrived I checked again and was assured everything would be fine. I started to feel ill about 40 minutes after finishing dessert. I was pretty sure that I had got some gluten so, knowing what was about to unfold, I decided to leave early to try to get home as soon as possible. I didn’t make it. I spent 10 minutes vomiting violently in a car park and then continued driving. Didn’t quite make it home and left a mess in the car. Then spent two hours on my knees vomiting in the bathroom. This is the usual outcome when I get a large amount of gluten. A little contamination just leaves me feeling unwell. But this was not just contamination. It took four days to recover. I messaged the Grouse shortly afterwards via their website to let them know but to date, a month later, I have heard nothing. Pathetic"

"I frequently call in here on cycle runs, but recently it’s been a bit disrupted. I called today usual excellent coffee, and range of tray bakes. However, there’s a new system that if you sit outside on the patio, the food comes in a disposable container, and the coffee in a cardboard cup. Not very eco friendly at all compared with washing up, and disappointing from a venue that prides itself on ethical values."
