"If you are looking for vegan snacks or want to cook for yourself, this is the place to find specialty ingredients. They have vegan ice creams, Daiya cheese, Tofutti cream cheese, tempeh, jackfruit, Field Roast, Tofurkey, Gardein, fair-trade chocolate, gluten-free items. They also have an extensive Asian section. The produce doesn't always look great and is often expensive. You can find bargains and good quality, though, if you're persistent."

"Wow, so grateful that we stumbled on this place, what a jewel! We wanted to eat at Finn's pizza, but it was closed when we were in Homer. I hadn't heard about Homeslice yet, but after I had given it an attempt, it's now the place I definitely want to come back to when I'm back in town! This sweet little spot on the Spit has a welcoming atmosphere and offers fantastic and surprisingly fast food to go on or off. The veggie calzone was one of the best I've ever had, and I'm kind of obsessed with Calzone. It loved that it’s cream cheese, as well as spinach, mushrooms, artichokes and a pesto sauce that I overheard describe to another customer as so tasty they would only drink like a drink (can’t blame them! We also tried the sandwich, a Halibut-Po’boy and I was again super impressed. The fish managed to taste light and was perfectly seasoned, only a touch of salt and pepper and nothing to get fresh in the way of quality. Greens were a step above your average sandwich salad, the bread was perfect for a Po'boy, but the real standout was the sauce, with its full taste and perfect balance. Servers were also really nice and my food came out quickly – cannot wait to come back to Homeslice! Homer has a new kind of pizza!!"

"The Homer Farmer's Market is the local and tourist event on Saturday in summer. It can be overcrowded and production can sell early at the beginning of the season. Between Saturdays and the smaller Wednesday market at the same place I complete most of my grocery shopping during the season. Simply Fresh Salsa made in Homer is the best I ever had, and twice a week in summer we have incredibly baked sweet and hearty treats from a vegan baker. The vegan bakers have breads, biscuits, cupcakes, cakes, Danish, cinnamon rolls, piroshki, vegan kimchi (other manufacturers use shrimps and fish sauce), as well as the best sauerkraut and fermented cucumbers I found in the area. During the growth season there are a variety of product greens, mushrooms, onions, garlic, tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines, celery, herbs, root vegetables, occasionally berries and apples. Combucha, coffee, jams, jelly, chocolate, herbs and personal care products can also be available on Saturday market. Most produce suppliers, the salsa provider and the vegan back provider sell on Saturday and Wednesday, other special providers cannot sell on Wednesday. The Wednesday market is usually much less crowded than the Saturday market. Updated from previous review on 2017-01-30"
