"Recently visited Amsterdam and found this great little coffee shop on the quiet Weteringstraat (street) not far from Spiegalgracht. Opening hours 8am to 6pm daily. For starters, the coffee at Back to Black is very good. I greatly enjoyed their rich espresso which went wonderfully with the traditional Dutch apple pie. The apple pie was worthy of high praise, one of the best I've had in many years and a genuine rival to the famous Winkle 43 apple pie that was also much enjoyed during this visit. Pleased enough with both the coffee and apple pie, I returned a couple days later for another round of both. The strong coffee blend worked well as a latte during this visit. The espresso came through very well, making for a nice white coffee drink. Again, the apple pie was stellar. I also very much enjoyed the cozy, casual feel of this local coffee shop. Free wifi, great atmosphere coupled with excellent black and white coffees and apple pie translates into a very good venue choice for coffee aficionado and foodies during visits to Amsterdam. I would be a regular visitor to Back to Black if I lived in the area."

"I use to come here after a workout because it is very close, but hey ho this is both the best and the worst place after a workout :D Spiros is very welcoming, entertaining and will always remember you, I guarantee you this! The place is super cute and very cozy, particularly because he decorated it with creative hand-crafted or original items. His cakes are the bomb! I like it that he is trying to use natural products and shows everyone that you can also indulge in a more healthy way : Keep up the good work (and the good cakes !"

"It wasn’t even busy, yet the server kept ignoring us after we signaled we’re ready to order. I had to walk inside the store to place an order at the cash register. Then the server kept mixing up orders (we were brought food we didn’t order). The icing on the cake is, the audacity of the server to tell us, you guys are really hungry huh? Well no sh*t, genius! There were only 5 tables and you kept ignoring us. Anyway if you can tolerate the poor service, the tostis were good."

"My only go-to place to celebrate special days. I don't think it's overpriced. It's all handmade and it takes a long effort to deal with strawberries and melted chocolate. People who are commenting below probably do not know the hustle there. They're always up-to-date with their designs on the products as well. 10/10."

"Okay. First of all, I absolutely loved the pie! It was called something white chocolate...with peach I guess? But you must try it! I have travelled a bit and tasted cakes and pies around the world but so far, I gotta say his pies are amazing. I don’t like sweet sweet pie. The one that I tried has a good balance of sweetness and fruity taste. Pie dough is fresh and soft. I beg you all to try his pies! Thanks for such a delightful experience!"
