"We only used the brasserie, which has a decent outside and inside sitting area. The "breakfast" is very casual - you can order any kind of coffee and two types of croissants: with chocolate and without. The service is relatively fast, and they won't "hover" over you if you want to take it slowly. Overall, if you are a light breakfast eater and don't want to pay €25 per person for the continental breakfast at your hotel - this one is fast and easy."

"I would recommend Grütli to anyone who will listen. My husband and I were staying in Montreux right along Lac Leman, and we decided to go for a hike (the hills are no joke! because we found this spot online. We got there pretty early, probably around 6:30pm, and the woman working told us unfortunately they didn’t open until 8pm. We were bummed but thanked her and headed out to see if we could find another good spot that was open. We got a little ways down the street, and she came running after us to say the chef told her it was ok for us to dine there. We were SO happy. We didn’t want to make the chef go too much out of his way, so we just got some Swiss wine and fondu, and it was so delicious. The server (the woman we talked to initially was so kind and welcoming. The chef even came out to say hello. Mind you, the woman didn’t speak English and I hardly speak French, but we got by I believe the chef was from Quebec? This was such an incredible, cozy, local spot, and I’m so thankful they let us stop in when they did NOT have to at all. Loved every bite and every second we were there."

"We stayed here during the Montreux Jazz Festival in a desire to be close to the action but far away enough during the late evening. Our room which was supposed to be a city view was instead right next to train tracks and a busy road that continued to run all through the night. In addition, there was a recycling center just outside our window to provide even more noise. The decor of the hotel rooms were extremely outdated and depressing. The hair dryer did not work, neither did the in-room phone. I am allergic to down, and they could only provide pillow replacement and not a duvet too. There was no conditioner offered, only shampoo. Checkout is too early at 11 and breakfast ends at 10:00 AM, which feels like cruel punishment when you could not sleep due to the noise. For the price and hotel class rating, I expected much more. The only nice thing I could say about this hotel are the lovely people working there, who make me feel guilty about writing this poor review. I hope they either drop their prices and class rating or complete a serious refurbishment."

"We went to a drink there and eat something in the first night we reached montreux. at the beginning we had a few cocktails, they were excellent and well done. (gin tonic and montreux mule) to eat we had burger with fritten. the meat was well cooked. I really liked it. also French riders were good. the menu has a good selection of foods and drinks, so they should find something they like. before we decided to have another round cocktails and we left the place very happy."

"I noticed that the last review for the Royal Plazza in Montreux dates back a very long time and things have changed a lot since then! I have known this hotel and all ils restaurants for 25 years and have seen it evolve. If the hotel deserves its 5 stars for its location, this is no longer the case at all in relation to the quality of its service for the last few years. When you call, the people are polite but just like in a pizzeria! No special effort is made for customers. As for the food, it is good, as it would be in a pizzeria, nothing more. Very desappointing."
