"Ca del re is a great small Italian restaurant, just a few kilometers from the airport. it is located in Unterrath, directly on the main road in a residential area. As soon as they enter, they can see that it is very popular among the locals. they serve a great looking pizza, but I chose two of the daily dishes, jakobsmusks on spinat with a sauce on a champagne basis, followed by a calfs liver dish from venetion. both were delicious. they serve home wines of excellent quality, and we know them best. they offer a good selection of matching weeping and the opportunity to try before the selection. all in all they were friendly, efficient and helpful. I will definitely come back to my next visit. there are people who can speak English. they should be booked if they want to go on Friday or at the weekend, and they are closed on Mondays. a word of warning. as in many German locations no credit cards are accepted."

"We saw the restaurant featured on a German TV show where it won a competition and were looking forward to dining there. Expectations where thus high, but we were in for a disappointment. We were seated in the beer garden, which has a casual ambience,...not bad, but not special either. When placing our order, we asked for the „steak board“ that was supposed to feature a selection of dry aged steaks in addition to what was on the menu. The question was answered with the Tomahawk on the regular menu being the steak board!?! When ordering the Tomahawk, we were told it took 75 min to prepare, which seemed a bit excessive to me. So we ordered something else, which was probably intended. As a starter, I had the Asian beef tataki, which arrived completely well done, and not just seared on the outside like a Tataki should be. I sent it back and received a properly prepared one, which was ok. The other starters were also ok. Then we received our mains. Both the tagliata and the rumpsteak were completely rare, although ordered medium. So we sent them back to be cooked some more. The food arrived back soon after. Both meat was ok afterwards. But what was totally unacceptable were the pasta that came along with the tagliata. The taste was basically ok, but they were completely overcooked and in addition cut into small pieces like for a small child. So we didn‘t eat them. When asked if we liked the food, we claimed about the pasta, which was then taken off the bill. If the food would have been prepared properly, it would‘t have been bad. But with all those misses it was difficult to enjoy. In addition, some of the more interesting wines on the nice selection of open wines were not available. And the nice full bodied red that I ordered was served in a white wine glass, oozing for a glass with more volume to get more air. When asking for another glass, I was told that they had just one type of wine glasses. Hard to believe for a place like that… The service was efficient, but some waiters not very experienced and not seeming to care much. Prices are not low, but would have been ok if the food was properly cooked. All in all a rather unpleasant dining experience. It‘s a pity because it didn‘t have to be, if the staff just did their job well."

"At first sight the shop appears relatively small due to the angled construction, but has a lot of choice, only the fruit and vegetable selection could be a little wider. There are also many cosmetic products, cleaning agents, bottled oat milk and some items I have not seen before, such as chick peas in chocolate or liquid shampoo for bottling. The staff is super relaxed and helpful and the cafe is very cosy. The cakes/pastries were all vegan and the coffee can be ordered with oat milk. On fridays you can also enjoy a vegan lunch."
