"I?m not the kind to typically leave a review, and I usually cringe at how unfair reviews tend to be, but I feel like our experience tonight warrants a review, but first I want to preface with saying how pleasant the staff and atmosphere was, thisreview is no reflection on them or the building/decor. We were very excited to try a new spot for our weekly date night, andwere quite delighted to hear that on a Friday night in Waco, there was no wait, a big positive. When we arrived, we were greetedby extremely friendly staff who opened the door for us and sat us immediately. Looking over the menu, we took note of the steepprices, but considering the high reviews, we were ok with it. We decided on a Caesar salad and calamari for appetizer, and tosay the least the salad was probably the best part of the meal. The calamari felt slightly under cooked, and the breading wassoggy. For our entrees we chose Beef Wellington and Scallop Scampi, both $29 dishes. Again, we don?t usually spend a lot oneating out but seeing the high reviews we had very high expectations and felt that it would be worth it. Long story short, itwas sadly not worth it in the least. The beef Wellington was ok, but the scallop Scampi was oily, flavorless, and the scallopswere slightly undercooked in my opinion. These are things that wouldn?t bother me usually, but considering the near $30 pricetag, we were very disappointed. After leaving, we both agreed that not only were we disappointed, but we didn?t (and don?t) feelgood at all, in fact we rushed home after having to run an errand to take an activated charcoal. So I say all this not to tryand convince people not to go to 1424, but I do want people to have a fair representation from the less than favorable side.Anyways, the staff and atmosphere were an easy 5/5, but the food unfortunately was 2/5. Hopefully this experience was not acommon experience."

"I’m in love! me and my family were in Waco and we were looking for a dinner place when we came across this place. When we came in they immediately greeted us and took our order, the food took a bit longer than we thought but that is expected since they were low staffed. When we got our food it was great my whole family got the bowls and everybody loved it, my one complaint is that they did not put enough sauce on our food but I believe that is most likely because they were quite busy. After we ordered the rolled ice cream for dessert and sat outside for that and it was amazing! Next time we are down here in Waco we are definitely coming back!: Lauren ;"

"Seemed like an LGBTQ friendly place, hope it actually is! Friendly staff. Food was nuts. I didn't take any pictures as we devoured our food. The double turkey was so flavourful and very filling. Great bread. Great cheeseburger, I love havingoptions for cheese, cook on burger, and toppings. The strawberry cream pie was very tasty. Tasted like real fruit and cream,flaky pastry. The vanilla shake was light on the vanilla but such a light sweetness that I didn't complain. Very thick andrich. Fries were great. One of our fries wasn't supposed to have cheese on it and there was, but my partner didn't need me togo back in to correct it. We were very impressed and look forward to coming back."

"Had a little time of wait due to certain items. But the staff and crew came with flying colors. No hate or complaint. Didn't ask for it but they compensated my order. Out of the blue. Very respectful lead and team. I would like to thank them for the service and kindness. These team rocks. And I wanna tell management the young fella deserves recognition and acknowledgement. Took care of the issue and helped my be on my way. Kudos to all of them. These are one of the many reasons why chick fil a rules."

"This was our first stop in Waco and we thoroughly enjoyed the food! We had an amazing server who helped us decide what to order. This location seems a bit outdated inside, that's why I rate it a 4 instead of a 5 star. However, the Pepperjack Turkey sandwiches that we got were very delicious! The mac and cheese and broccoli were very tasty, we just added pepper to the mac and cheese. We will visit again as we travel to Waco, and we would reccomend visiting this location as well!"

"My best friend and I took my son and her grandkids here for Thanksgiving. Yes it was very busy when we got there. It was well worth it. The food was delicious and everyone got full. With No Clean Up! Our server was very nice and attentive."

"This place has always been great. Gotta love an old timey burger joint named Health Camp! The fries are not salted (you do get salt packs), the amount of bacon on their burgers is a darn good amount, and excellent malt shakes. The staff is friendly, and come to check to make sure you like the food. You can order at the window and eat in your car, or dine-in. Oldies music playing, historical photos and such on the walls. Cool diner. My great-grandparents started coming here and we've been coming ever since. They've been in business for 74 years. Gotta be doing something right!"
