"Just got back from Big Dogs on Blair what a find! I had given up on family dining until I went there with my large group tonight. They made us feel very welcome, great range of beers on tap, and man they know how to make a good mojhito! Can't speak well enough of the pasta it was the daily special which changes from day to day, tonight it was fab! They got our group seated and fed in time for our movie, even had time to spare for a mixed berry creme brulee absolute magicians! Definitely heading back there for my next group event."

"Was pleasantly surprised by this pub. Very grand upon entry, spacious, and has 20s/Great Gatsby like feel to it. Large main and beverage lists, decently priced by comparison to Wellington CBD standard. I chose the 250g Rib eye steak, which was cooked medium rare, and it was absolutely delicious very tender, and the garlic butter was a nice touch (see photo). I split a dessert (the $6 Triple Chocolate Cheesecake) with my partner and it was just the right amount because it was so rich. All desserts are $6 which is unheard of, or you can get all 3 for $15 great for sharing, or if you just want to pig out. <br/ <br/ Have recommended to all, will definitely be back again soon!"

"What a team of hospo heroes! We arrived on a busy sunny Sunday arvo. Lovely gentleman offered to move one of the outside tables from the shade to the sunshine on the grass. Magic spot looking at the water. I Took my mum. Same guy brought water to our table while I was inside and he chatted to Mum. She was beaming when I came out at how wonderfully he’d treated her. I noticed he was the same with all the other customers. Took the time to make everyone feel special despite the cafe being busy. We ate a lovely meal of prawns n salad and had a great iced coffee that really hit the spot. An equally lovely and accommodating lady brought our food to the table. These guys deserve a Michelin star for their service. Truly passionate about what they do and show great care for their customers. Nice selection of food at reasonable prices too. And you can’t beat the location. A genuinely perfect experience. Thanks team"

"I eat out 2-3 times per week most weeks. The Thistle is possibly Wellington's best kept dining experience secret. The food is fab, the staff are always friendly and helpful, and there's plenty of wine/beer choice. The thing is, you need to be able to get into their little dining room, and not eat out in the main pub area, to enjoy the full experience. Have been there half a dozen times now and it's never disappointed!"
