"Not sure what has happened but Ruya is not the same as it used to be. This is my 4th visit and my first in over a year. But the quality of the food was not as good as previous. Though I will say the guy making the bread was fantastic. Portions were tiny for £20 a tiny piece of flat bread with a bit of cheese and egg sorry but what!! And the lady who took our coats looked so miserable. Definitely seeing her face as soon as we walked in was not a great start. We spent £60 on just cocktails which were good for two then when our guests arrived nearly £300 on food for 4 and a bottle of wine. We didn’t even order large dishes. Mostly dips and salads. We left hungry. I personally feel like we should bill the restaurant for our second dinner at a nearby food market. So disappointed we expected better."

"I have booked the "hendricks small teller" deal £100 for two people. our booking was for 10.30 clock after the theater. the kitchen was closed! false advertising! we did not want to spend the entire £100 on drinks, but we had no option. incredibly loud music. many scaryly dressed people. standards on this bar are gone. not what we had expected from a 5* hotel and certainly not as the bar was earlier, pre-Covid. very disappointing."

"The most breathtaking thing about this restaurant is the decor. It’s like stepping into another world! It’s absolutely stunning. Gorgeous lovely restaurant. A lot of time was taken to decorate the rooms, the walls, the ceilings, the tables. Even the bathrooms. I loved every part of the restaurant. It has an elegant touch of rustic shabby chic designs. Love it The food!! Wasn’t too keen on the food. Found it really underwhelming. A few things we wanted on the menu was not available and that’s fine but it would have been great for the waitress to mention it to us before we placed orders. It could be that the options we went for weren’t the best ones but the only thing I enjoyed was the complimentary bread and beautifully flavoured butter. The dumplings were very basic and so was the veal salad. The apple margarita cocktail I ordered was too salty! It was truly basic for the standards I expected. Staff were ok but could have been friendlier. It appeared our waitress couldn’t speak English so that could have been a contributing factor. It’s certainly worth a visit for the experience of the environment and for traditional Russian culture but I probably wouldn’t go back."
