"Visited with my elderly mum who has mobility difficulties. We had had a very difficult and slightly traumatic day and my mum and I desperately needed a sit down and a cup of tea and something to eat as we'd had to miss lunch as...well. We managed to park pretty much right outside as my mum has a blue badge, although there is parking for anyone for 30 mins. Not long but maybe enough for a cuppa and cake! The staff were very welcoming and friendly and extremely thoughtful and assured us that it would be fine to get a sandwich and a pot of tea even though it was 3.30 when we got there and they closed at 4pm. The food was lovely and fresh and the cake very good and we loved the way it was served on vintage china and a lovely proper tea pot with loose leaf tea. The tea was very good and plenty of it. They could not have been more helpful and considerate and definitely went the extra mile for us. Poppy's is a really lovely and beautifully decorated tearoom with some gorgeous vintage pieces as well as small gifts and cards. We felt it was a really special place with lovely people and lovely food and we will definitely be back now we've found it! Thank you to them for giving us a happy end to what had been a very challenging day for us."

"A great place for real ale fans. Good selection of beers, including Big Hands own beers and guest ales. Also good gin range. Vinyl night I think is on Tuesday, but check first. Avoid when Chester Races are on."

"I have been wining and dining Mrs E for years at The Boathouse and today was probably one of the best. For a change, we had the Sunday Roast sharing platter. The quality and quantity of food was fantastic, with Mrs E even eating the beef and Yorkshire pudding which she normally swerves. Thanks to Steph our waitress, Brian, Harry, Liam and Manu in the kitchen for a delicious and great value meal."

"On a recent trip to the Wirral for some medical treatment my nurse recommended Holdi to me. And I have to say I’m glad she did. The meal was reasonably priced. A really good choice of dishes. It was all really tasty. If I am ever back up this way again I would definitely revisit here for a good meal. It was very busy even for midweek so appears to be popular in the area and I can see why."

"I would definitely recommend this place for pancakes savory or sweet. They absolutely nail it. I was here for brunch on this instance, it felt a bit underwhelming. I had the Say cheese crepe, with and egg and bacon. It is quite a small portion, one crepe with filling to be precise, so don't use this as a brunch option. On the other hand, coffee was very good!!
