The setting is interesting, in Hargrave road, Makanan is amongst all these new cool kids on the block but still a little hole in the wall place. It was by far the least busy eatery on the street. <br>
The prawn nasi goreng was very good, the star. It came with a giant cracker, a soft fried egg and four big prawns. The curry was a bit too watery for me, I wanted more flavour, less liquid. The fried chicken was very dry and overdone, shame because the coating on it was tasty. I tried to overcome the dryness by smothering it in sambal. I nearly died, that sambal was the real deal!<br>
We washed the meal down with a young coconut juice, delish, and an icey lychee thing, too sweet."

"Really impressive on a busy Friday night. Vietnamese done with flavour and heat, doing traditional dishes while keeping them fresh and interesting. Chicken coconut curry was particularly good. Service was friendly and charming too. Recommended"

"I eat here at least once a week, sometimes 2 or 3 times. Service is friendly and quick. Food is very fresh and absolutely delicious. Their variety of rice paper rolls and banh mi are awesome. My absolute favourite dish is the grilled pork vermicelli salad."

"First time having food here the staff were lovely. The wait wasn't too long. I grew up eating lots of flavour-filled thai food so I'm usually disappointed dining out. We ordered the tofu pho and prawn crunchy fried rice (w/o egg). <br/ <br/ The pho wasn't bad, it was alright! It needed some crushed peanuts and cashew. The broth clear and had a very strong light soy sauce taste. I tried to find some chilli or something to add to it but was disappointed there wasn't any(very unusual for an Vietnamese place). <br/ My partner had the fried rice, first of all it was huge we couldn't finish it. There was a passable amount of prawns in there but it was very oily. We tried to take it back home but the went everywhere.<br/ <br/ We will be back again to try other items on the menu! I'm just so happy it actually has vegan options."
