"We have came here 8 times in a matter of about 6 months-1 year. The food has always been good. I wouldn 't say it 's the best bbq I 've ever had but it 's good for corpus restaurants. Now the reason I 'm leaving this review is the lack of supplies and the horrible management/service I have encountered while visiting Salty Oak. I had a sit down with the new Manager Mark last time I brought our family for a Mother 's Day lunch. I explained to him that even that time that I was there they were ALWAYS out of an item. Whether it be sweet tea, pickles macaroni, it 's multiple things. He told me that he would assure that this get brought to the owners attention and they would be stocked up. Well again today I brought my girlfriend to eat when we were going to go to Rudy 's since we live closer to Rudy 's but we went to Salty Oak because we had a good feeling about the new Manager Mark. Again today they were out of traditional pickles like your everyday bbq place has and the drink machine was down. We didn 't get service until 15 mins of sitting down and that was after speaking to Mark making sure he knew we were back to visit and eat. He could not accommodate anything with us not being able to drink what we wanted and when we got up to leave and told the other manager with glasses and a mustache that we would never come back and he said that 's okay you 're one in a million, it won 't hurt us. If he had accommodated me for something he would 've probably kept me as a customer but not only did you lose out on the entire meal we didn 't eat but a customer and a whole bunch Of people to follow. Take care and GOOD LUCK Maybe this is why we are literally the only people in the restaurant each time we go and y 'all had a tv promotion going today to help boost business."

"Had put on google cards to take us at another place to dine then somehow ended up here. my daughter and I both have pizza. I have the meat lovers and she has the kids pizza. they arrived quickly and were delicious! hubby has spaghetti and meatballs. his literally lasted twice as long as our came out (our was brought out and we were over half finished before his arrival) and was nothing amazing. ours were great and would eat here again. he said he would order something different next time."

"Can’t say enough good things about our experience here, but I’ll try to convey the point. We made reservations and requested a window seating to view the bay, and upon arrival our table by the window with the bay view was ready. The hostess was so friendly and polite. She introduced our waiter and looked over the menu which can be overwhelming as all the options are phenomenal. I would recommend looking over the menu online before sitting down so you’re not flabbergasted trying to decide. We ordered the quail leg appetizer to start. While waiting we were brought some fresh baked in house bread , warm and pillow like interior, crusty, cheese coated and salty crust this bread was fantastic. Waiter came back with our appetizer the quail legs are fried and coated in a “ sweet heat “ sauce tasted fantastic, skin was crispy, meat was tender and the sauce was a perfect mix of sweet, savory with the slightest kick of heat. For our entrees, my wife ordered the sautéed jumbo shrimp large fresh shrimp with fresh fettuccine pasta, a rich buttery Alfredo like sauce, crumbled feta, shallot and capers. They really don’t skimp on the shrimp and the shrimp taste and texture was extremely fresh. She loved it. I opted for the cast iron seared Buffalo ribeye medium rare comes topped with a roasted garlic marrow rosemary crust. Wow, fantastic steak was cooked to perfection , melt in your mouth texture , meaty and fatty it is a ribeye after all , and the garlic marrow crust on top put the flavor over the top. Please note that the entrees do not come included with sides and that is an additional charge. For a side we ordered a half share of broccollini which is essentially baby broccoli with longer stalks and smaller florets. It was seasoned and cooked well and came with some type of sauce which if I recall correctly was a buttery hollandaise and also tasted great. We had to finish with something sweet and went with the crème brûlée. Beautiful dish with a Texas shaped sugar cookie on top of the dish , homemade whipped topping with berries and the creme really hit the spot. This place is expensive , but the quality and service matched the price. A small duo band playing keyboard and drums added to the atmosphere. If you want to impress your date or colleagues, this place doesn’t disappoint. Don’t come here expecting to spend less than $100 for two to dine. The view is also fantastic, offering scenic views of the bay and the city. 10 10 , would recommend especially if staying at the Omni."

"This was absolutely the best Barbecue I’ve had in my life! Customer service was also really good. One of the guys’ working helped give us some suggestions which led to a better experience. We don’t have all that much barbecue options where I am from so it was nice to try something different. The food was so good. I wish I would have come here the first day in town I would have come for lunch every day. Value seemed decent for the quantity of food too!"

"If you like diarrhea, then this is the place to go. There's actually a consumer report about Church's Chicken, ironically they do tend to serve uncooked chicken (perhaps they need to figure out the time when the chicken is done and be fully cooked and use this method each time) The mash and gravy sitting underneath the heat lamp at times ironically will be cold (I think once you place your order they are so quick to grab the mash and gravy and put it in a bag while it's sitting on the counter getting cold waiting for the chicken to be boxed up) The staff will flat out lie to you and tell you the chicken just came up when you asked for fresh chicken, so you walk out to your vehicle and you check and sure enough it's sort of warm. This Chicken location is the best place to eat if you love diarrhea, and like I said there is a consumer's report about this establishment, of other people experiencing this as well. Mainly because the employees do not wash their hands and cross contamination is a problem at this location"

"Super quaint little dive. They have a small bar with beer on tap. Don’t tell my Grandma who is from Louisiana but the gumbo was the best I’ve ever had. The oysters were so fresh. It was nice to sit at the bar and watch all the food go out. Very laid back atmosphere. Highly recommend."

"Ordered an old timer and a mushroom swiss. Gotta say, for the price it felt very underwhelming. Denny's serves burgers that are bigger for a more affordable price. They even offer double pattys for the same price. They are really overcharging for what others sell at less than the price. The only item I'd reccomend is the rib eye but at $20 for the only one that'll fill you up, I would rather go to Denny's for a burger"
