"My husband, two kids and I ate here on the last night of our New Orleans vacation. We were excited to try the uniquely presented food and drinks. My Moscow Mule wasn’t anything to write home about, but the bartender made cute mocktails complete with an umbrella and clip-on koala for the kids. The waiter even brought an extra koala when my son dropped his koala in between the booth and the wall (rolling my mama eyes). The waiter who was very kind disappeared for awhile and the hostess waited on us at the end of our meal. We ordered a cookie for dessert to share, but we weren’t prepared for the arrival of the four inch in diameter cookie. We would have happily ordered at least two or more had we been briefed on the size. Our overall experience was good, but felt it was pricy for the value given the on/off again service, food size and taste. It was good for somethjng out of the ordinary"

"We’re only here for 3 days. We just arrived and this was the first place we found that catered both to my vegan and my husbands meat eating preferences. We were not disappointed and hubs said we have to go back again before we leave. *edit- we came to new Outland over winter break and with Holiday hours we had to try 3 more times to come back. Finally on our last day in the city we made it. We arrived at open and each ordered 2 sandwiches. We ate in and the staff was so kind and supportive of our decision to eat 2 sandwiches each. I can’t say enough about this place. Go. Updated from previous review on 2021-12-24"

"We loved Charlie's Steak House in New Orleans. Not a fancy steakhouse but a New Orleans institution in a great part of the city near Tulane. The drinks and offerings are fantastic, think high-end bourbon. The service and ambiance were all about the food not to be seen, Courtney our server was great. Everyone loved the steaks and the flavor was awesome. Had a few sides, crabmeat au gratin was very tasty. We highly recommend Charlie's."

"We returned to DDSB during our 2nd trip to NOLA…and it continues to be AWESOME! The biscuit is appropriately crunchy on the outside but soft flaky inside. You can’t go wrong with any of the biscuit sandwiches. However, be warned that it quite the hefty meal when you add in a donut."

"Overall, the food was average. The burgers were large, however, you pay a premium for French fries. I would rather they just inflate the price and make French fries standard. The included item is potato chips. My mom and daughter had the burgers and said they were pretty good. I had the stuffed shrimp, which didn't have a lot of flavor. I could tell I was eating shrimp and crab, but there wasn't much flavor. The portion was four stuffed shrimp. However, the shrimp were of the medium variety that I would buy at my local market. They were ripped with a tablespoon size crab ball. I had to pay a premium for cheese on my potato. This dish was $29, which I was prepared to pay, but was disappointed when it came out. Or meal was $95 (including a 15% tip). I'd also like to add we all had water to drink. I think the bill was a tad too much when two people in my party had a burger. The best part was dining outside right at the water. I drove from central Virginia to dine there, and am not sure if do it again. Just so so."

"A corner bakery and cafe with the sort of vibe you'd expect for Bywater. The setup was a bit odd when I visited because they were doing all their business through a takeout window, but you could still enter the store and sit inside or peruse the goods if you wanted to. The spread of pastries had substantial variety, notably including vegan options. I picked a chocolate croissant and, wanting hot breakfast, ordered a tofu scramble over grits as well. The croissant had just enough chocolate, while the tofu scramble literally came in a coffee cup. I was not impressed with the portion for the price, but it was a nice flavor. I imagine a lot of businesses are operating on the margin, so I was happy to give them a visit as the neighborhood does need a vegan-friendly kind of place."
