"We were really looking forward to visiting RC HQ being appreciative of Hugh FW food ethos and reading of the experience. As we arrived I asked my husband to take a photo of me at the entrance but we decided not as the sign was...extremely worn with a letter missing. Walking down the glorious valley to the HQ was stunning. We were greeted with a glass of SPANISH bubbles which quite shocked me as we have had wonderful local wines at the canteen in Axminster. We are close to Lyme Bay vinery! It was really unpleasant and I discreetly poured it away. We had an hour to look around and frankly thought the grounds shabby with plenty of weeds there is wild and there is neglected, this was the latter. The kitchen garden was lovely but took max mns to see and no produce or River Cottage items for sale. The meal was exceptionally good and we loved the description of our meal by the chef. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Overall though disappointed the place feels as if it is running on the name and needs smartening up."

"Sat here on Sunday and found it very friendly for people and dogs. the eating looked so good that we returned today (service a) and had a meal, and there were beautiful dogs were treated with some cookies from the glass on the bar and charged by fussing from the letting woman. if they were willing to go for a Sunday dinner that looks really good, I would advise them to book as they were very busy. it has new owners who took it in november and is an excellent pub that I recommend very I call back on any case when next down there"

"Visited Earls today part way through our holiday. I have to say food was very good, but not cleanliness or awareness of current times. Although sanitizer was available at the door, we sat at a table which as not cleaned or sanitizer or cleared away....In fact I did not see any member of staff with a sanitizer or cloth at all. After lunch, a member of staff leant over my partner very close to clear the table, not necessary at all, as we had only just finished. Maybe clear tables when customers have left would be good suggestion!!!A little more care and attention is needed at the moment. Just on a final note, toilets could do with a good clean too. Not good!!! Shame as the food was good."
