"If you want to experience a real local Swiss beiz this is a place to go. A tiny and unassuming little house on the side of the road between Morgarten and Sattel, where the local farmers and artisans meet. Everyone knows each other and discussions are lively and animated. Portions are huge we had the cordon bleu and the portion was enough for two, but it was delicious. In winter they make one of the best fondues around. The inside of the restaurant is very small and you might have to share a table with locals but dont sit at the Stammtisch without being invited to. Note this is one of the few restaurants where smoking is still allowed inside."

"The Baren is located in the quiet village of Oberageri which is located on the Ageri See. It is about a 20 minute drive from Zug and about 40 from city center Luzern and Zurich. The restaurant serves both continental and Swiss dishes. You can tell that the chef and kitchen staff prepare each dish fresh and with tender loving care. The food is well seasoned and presented. The dishes are creative and the menu changes with the seasons. You will not find frozen dishes. Even though the menu is in German, the staff speaks some English and is very pleased to translate the menu for you. Be sure to ask for their specials because sometimes it is not on the menu. If you are not sure of what you want do not hesitate to ask the staff for their recommendations. The Baren in Oberageri offers both formal and casual dining. Irrespective of what kind of atmosphere you are looking for you can have both at the Baren. This is perhaps our most favorite restaurant in Switzerland and we always look forward to going. Each visit is a new experience no matter how many and when we return. The Baren is also a great place to entertain and impress your clients. Locally run and owned with pride. You will not regret the trip from Zurich or Luzern if you want to experience dining in a small village at its finest. However as seating is limited in the formal dining area, call ahead for reservations."
