"Visited this morning for the first time and was really impressed with the service from staff who made us feel extra special and welcome- something quite rare in today's cafe scene. They were quick to accommodate by bringing out a high chair for my friend's baby. We were promptly served with menus and asked if we wanted to order coffee. I was quite impressed with my soy flat white. The breakfast menu was pretty decent and I decided to order the multigrain toast with a 'side' of mashed avocado (which comes with feta mixed through it). This was pretty tasty, although looked like it may have been sitting around just a little while as it was starting to go brown. But everything tasted good and it was just what I felt like. The others ordered the toast with vegemite and the 'boss breakfast' which appeared to have mushrooms, bacon and tomatoes served with poached eggs and toast. We paid individually for our meals and were asked how we enjoyed it and also thanked for coming. I felt like these small touches really made me feel enthusiastic about visiting again. I think Sunday early morning is a good time to visit as most people visiting are locals, as opposed to a busy week day with the number of medical centres in close proximity."

"This area of North Balwyn, it’s Greythorn really, strikes me as needing a bit of a lift, foodwise at least. Travelling Bandit looked like comfortably the best cafe option on a scan of both sides of this shopping strip (although I later spotted the Jolly...Miller which is in a more secluded area off the road). The cafe has street appeal then and its moderately attractive inside too and almost cute. It also has very nice front and back open areas. Most importantly, the coffee is very good here. They serve a perfectly respectable brew that would be easily at home in any of the more fancied areas. The menu is said to be good too, I understand. The cafe was doing an acceptably good trade among all age groups while I was there. The staff dealt with the custom politely and efficiently. There was a hits mix on that was mainly 80s. It was inoffensive and quite pleasant after a while. Nice place overall. A terrific option if you’re in this area. I’d happily return another time."

"Delicious portioned out. Had the ox tongue on rice and the portion is really worth it. A must try for ox lovers. The other is red bean tomato sauce pork knuckles is really tender and soft and the sauce is to die for! Look forward next!"

"We have been visiting Loong Palace for just on 15 years first as a couple and now with our family.We have tried others in the local area but rate this restaurant above all others in terms of speedy efficient service and great authentic Chinese food as a very reasonable price."
