"If I had paid for my meal instead of my friend, I would have checked Beso differently. As it was, a free meal means special good will to any restaurant! Here's what I have to say about Beso: The waitress was friendly..... the food was quickly brought out and beautifully presented.... the decor was nice when a bit on the sticky, Vegas side...... and the only mistake in otherwise excellent service was that so many small plates came out at the same time that they practically fall from the tiny table. Fellow Menuism users have already weighed on prices (over $10 for guacamole and chips? I mean, c'mon, the relatively uninspired dishes (all tasted good, but none of them was especially unforgettable, the attitude (not on the display, actually when I was there, etc.). So I'm not gonna bother going there. What I found amusing is that the restaurant should be a kind of hype-heavy celebrity hangout. Apart from a lonely paparazosculking around outside (the awakening of Eva Longoria, to appear, I guess, and a bumbed in a skin-tight dress with a breast so fake looking that there (they could be as a flotation device in the case of a water landing, there was not much to gawk. As others have observed, the restaurant was practically empty. Weird, in view of the alleged cache (who, as we all know, must have been made by a PR company, as nothing here would justify it. Given the opportunity and choice, I would rather go to El Cholo for really delicious, simple, unpretentious Mexican cuisine instead of shaking me to Beso."

"So dang DELICIOUS!! I went to to this location many many years ago, and was so excited to come back just for the crispy rice! We got the crispy rice, brussels sprouts, rainbow roll and short rib fried rice everything was incredible!! I wish there were more pieces of beef in the massive rice dish because it was so tender and flavorful. I would eat dinner here every night if I could – and Mark was such a fantastic server!"

"One of the better Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles in my opinion. I moved here from San Diego, where I grew up, a few years ago so it’s been really hard to find Mexican food that’s as good up here but this is one of the few restaurants that I enjoy coming to. It’s out of the way for me over in East LA in a residential neighborhood but it’s worth a stop especially when I am coming from east into town. The burritos still don’t taste like home to me so I don’t order those but the plates are really delicious, the portion sizes are really generous, and the food quality is there. They also have a parking lot with about 10 spaces attached next door and street parking is easier here in East LA compared to other parts of town. I would recommend any kind of Mexican food and definitely plan to be back again."

"I 'm an outlier. Loved the interior of the restaurant (and even the hotel lobby); hated the food. My pork chop came overcooked (i.e., bone dry) and the follow-up one was undercooked. The potatoes were tasteless (if a potato can be tasteless), the side of mushrooms were overcooked, and their signature Kennebec fries were soft, cold, and tasteless. My companion had the ribeye and judged it as edible, but lacking a discernable beef flavor. We both had the cheesecake for dessert, but we didn 't finish them. Service started off fine, but when I mentioned the second pork chop didn 't work, either, it went downhill from there. Loved the interiors and I like old hotels. Classic example of a hotel restaurant touted as being great when, in fact, it is not. Like other reviewers, I love the interiors, but the food is pretty bad. It 's a tourist hotel on Hollywood Blvd. That should have been a clue. Duh."

"1st let me set the mood. We arrive on a Friday for a 7pm reservation they tell us we have a 2 hour time limit at the table but can stay later at the bar, that’s fine.they walk us to a table up by the bar, the section is COMPLETELY empty. They seat us NEXT to a LARGE speaker. Like I’m talking 2 inches here. We ask to move to another identical table 6ft away. They refuse, “that table is for someone else” well … I am 100 percent sure they didn’t call and book the 2nd worst table in the house or any of the other 10 empty ones but they were INSISTANT that we could only sit at or should I say on the speaker. So we left. I was blown away by this insanity from the hostess. DO NOT go here"
