"First, though, I will say the staff were very friendly and helpful. That said, our experience was only okay: I did not care for the wine, with or without the oysters, and the roasted oysters (which we had, obviously) were not the amazing like the waitress said they'd be. There was also the smell of fertilizer wherever you sat under the tent. It just was a different experience than I realized it would be, probably because it's a micro-vineyard housed alongside a restaurant and inn experience. We do still want to try the restaurant, which we were unable to do this trip, but in terms of the wine-tasting experience, it was underwhelming, in terms of taste, scene, and available variety. The only plus was that the wine flight was inexpensive. So, silver-lining."

"My husband found this quaint place while looking for an 'escape ' from the city WITH OYSTERS. This is less than 3hrs from DC. We arrived to a lovely B&B and a warm greeting from the proprietor, Peggy. We sat out one the patio, sampled the yummy wines and had some AMAZING oysters (SO FRESH) and a charcuterie plate. It was a perfect day to enjoy the delicacies offered. When we checked into the Hope and Glory Inn we fell in love with the quaint cottage. The whole property is absolutely beautiful. We truly enjoyed the outdoor bath before I took a bike ride on one of the complimentary bikes. That evening we dined in the main house, romantic, rustic, all around charming. I don 't know if my review could come close to describing the sheer GENIUS of their chef, but I will try. We started with fresh Rappahannock River oysters which were roasted and served with the most tasty pesto, WOW! The next course was the gazpacho. I 'm not a fan of cold soup, THIS was the exception. It was bursting with flavors and freshness (it was nice SEEING those heirloom tomatoes growing outside our cottage window, along with fresh herbs) that I could never describe. The main course was a large crab cake, with little to NO filler and just as fantastic as everything she 's done. I love to dine out, this chef IS phenomenal. From beginning to end, this place, with it 's warm inviting people (even the housekeeping deserved a hug) and unbelievable food, to it 's quaint cottages which have all the 'little things ' you need, made this a magical weekend. I can only imagine once the foliage is in bloom. DON 'T miss this spot. Get away for a few... And meet Peggy, Chef Meseret, and Dudley, worth the drive!"

"My family enjoyed having lunch at the Fish Hawk Oyster Bar located down the steps next to the pool. Beautiful Waterview and seafood.we ordered baskets of fried oysters, fried shrimp, and calamari. Also had several dozen raw oysters. Afterwards, we sat on the lawn in big comfortable chairs under shade trees enjoying the breeze , and views of the water and marina!"

"My husband and I take the opportunity to dine at the Colonnade at The Hope and Glory Inn 2x a year. Whether a special occasion or just time for us to enjoy the special culinary experience Chef Meseret delivers we have after 10 years not been disappointed. Each course (usually 4) is personally crafted to each table by Chef. This experience is not mass production. When a good “cook” can deconstruct the elements as presented it says everything about the Chef’s talent at hand. Ingredients are personally chosen, farm/garden to table creates a perfectly executed meal. This evening in the midst of a tropical storm we enjoyed oysters ala Meseret, gazpacho with 8 different tomatoes and raspberry, a crab cake with no filler and accompanying sides and the finale dessert of homemade pannacotta with fresh berry coulis. Wine pairing is suggested it is spot on. Quiet intimate setting if you have dietary needs speak up. At the end of the evening Chef Meseret arrives at your table to converse about the meal, take questions and feedback. The experience here is more personal than most worth every penny."
