"I had the opportunity to dine here twice once in July of 2022 and again in November of 2022. On the positive side it is a very pleasant place to eat. It 's a small, intimate restaurant with very personal service and good attention to detail. The seating is very comfortable which is a good thing because this restaurant makes everything to order. Both of my dining experiences here lasted 3 hours plus. If you don 't have the patience to sit and sip wine between courses then this restaurant is not for you. Again on the positive side this is a BYOB restaurant. You can even bring beer and they will provide you with a frosty mug! On both occasions I ordered from the daily table d 'hote. The warm bread at the beginning of both of my meals was heavenly! Light and made with a beautifully fermented, flavorful dough, this bread is a real treat. The included salad is a bit of a light weight, comprised mostly of boxed greens, the sort you would find at a Costco warehouse. Next to the bread it 's a bit of a disappointment. The first time I ate here I had the venison, it was properly cooked on the rare side, a reasonable 6 to 8 ounce portion. The second time I ate here I had the strip loin. This time my steak and that of my companion was cooked well past medium. Certainly the meat was of good quality and the seasoning was done right but it lacked the beefy jus that makes a steak. This time around the strip loins were in the 4 to 6 ounce weight range, a considerable drop in size and a very petite portion at that. The peas, green beans, Brussels sprouts and potatoes that accompanied the dish were as the last time, served in small quantity and generously seasoned, bordering on salty. There was a total of 2 tiny new potatoes with my meal, far too little for a grown up. For dessert on both occasions I choose the lemon cheese cake. The first time I ate it, I found it to be very delicious, sweet and tart, cheesy and fluffy all at the same time. The second time this was served to me the cake was tasty but very wet. Perhaps it was under-cooked or cooled too quickly and condensation from its own steam rained down on it. My best guess is the cake was under-cooked as it got progressively wetter towards the centre. The wet lemon cheese cake was no match for its dryer sister on the first occasion. While some consistency was lacking the food overall is very good. The portions are on the small side; however the prices are on the large size. Diner for 2 in July was $166 with a 20% tip and dinner for 2 in November was a whopping $184, not including the bottle of wine we had in tow. Needless to say this is a special occasion restaurant. I think the portions could be larger and I hope my experience with lack of consistency is not the norm but just an off day."
