"I went for Afternoon Tea with my husband. The sandwiches were ok, nothing special. The cakes again were ok. I give lots of Afternoon Teas, and have been to hotels and Fortnum Mason for beautiful teas, so l was disappointed when the sandwiches appeared on a plain white earthenware plate and the cakes on a slate!! no tiered cake stands and no Green Tea either. Also you should be asked if you want more tea or sandwiches or cakes, again not forthcoming. The Afternoon Tea was a present so l feel it was wasted and perhaps should have chosen another location."

"Beverages flat and warm. Doesn't expect to eat in a tent when he asked for cash. Bread and oil literally 2 rolls of bread. Good microwave. Manger apologised, however, very script. Would not return what a shame is."

"Lovely tasting food but my fish was slightly over cooked and it was too buttery and rich for me but that was probably just what I happened to choose- Dover Sole. We had to wait a while- apparently because we didn't have starters? One of the waitresses was a bit over bearing too- she was pleasant and everything but she was too in your face during the meal and loud. Lovely meal overall though and I would come back and choose something different!"

"I often come to Kingston Lodge with my daughter and have tea/coffee in the bar area. I thought it was lovely, so when it was my partners birthday, we decided to go for a family meal to celebrate. When we arrived I asked if we could still eat in a restaurant even though we weren’t guests of the hotel, they said that they had an event so we couldn’t eat in the restaurant but we could eat in the lounge area. We were half way through our meal when a staff member came and told us that we would need to pay now. I was shocked and asked why and they told us that it was because we weren’t guest in the hotel even though I had asked if it was ok to eat. I explained that we would want desert and more drinks but he still insisted that we pay there and then. I unwillingly had to stop feeding my one year old daughter to get my card out and pay half way through our celebration meal. I am really disappointed at being treated like this at a place I thought was so lovely and against racial stereotyping (as most places are in 2019!)I assume this was an issue as we were the only black people in the restaurant, I’d asked other groups of people at the restaurant that weren’t guests if they had experienced this and none of them had. Me and my partner had even picked up a wedding brochure which we promptly put back due to the assumption that we weren’t welcome to eat in the establishment. Really disappointed."
