"I was in Melbourne for a three day meeting a few days before all international flights we cancelled due to I ended up staying at the hotel for days being separated all this time, and still, from my family who were living overseas....Melbourne, Victoria suffered not just one but two extremely restrictive lockdowns where one could only leave your abode for no more than one hour per day and you could not venture past more than from your residence. Although, by law, restaurants were unable to provide anything but a takeaway menu which more often than not arrived lukewarm. On the very first day Melbourne Restaurants were allowed to provide table service I went down to Acland Street for a meal. Even though the entire street was busy there was a carnival type atmosphere where everyone was excited to have a small level of normality after so long been looked in at home. Even though I didn't think I had a chance to get a table, without a reservation, I went to Cicciolina hoping to have a meal at possibly Melbourne's best Italian Restaurant. Even though there was a wait, about an hour, one it went by very quickly and two, it was well worth the wait. I started with a mixture of entree's, including the Scallops in the half shell, Beef carpaccio, pecorino, chili crumbs, rocket and San Danielle prosciutto, fior di latte, blood orange, radicchio. All three were absolutely fantastic, the presentation, temperature and flavor was stupendous. For my main meal I had Roasted lamb rump, artichokes, broad beans, smoked yogurt in a parsley sauce, although it was again absolutely fabulous and a reasonable portion I ordered Orrechiette marinara calamari, mussels, prawns, bug meat, tomato chili sugo which was absolutely to die for! Normally I don't have a desert, however our waitress, who as extremely knowledgeable and professional, recommended to have a desert and that the Sticky date pudding, butterscotch sauce, vanilla parfait with flaked almonds was probably the best in Melbourne, if not Australia. She was not wrong! The wine our waitress recommended was the Lenton Brae ‘Lady Douglas’ Cabernet Sauvignon or the Balnaves Cabernet Sauvignon we had both. In whole the meal, ambiance and staff was absolutely fantastic, Cicciolina really lived up to their reputation."

"The food variety was nice and presentation, but dont think the price was worth it compared to other Turkish restaurants. We booked via the fork which was simple and easy, choosing a timeslot that allowed for 50% off. Great deal to try out a new...place! Unfortunately when we went to pay the staff were very rude and reluctant to honor this (showed the email confirmation which stated this deal and booking number). This part of the experience ruined it for us. If you cant treat your customers nicely then don't expect us to come back. Disappointing."

"For my birthday celebration, my bestie took me here with mutual friend Adam for my treat. We were there for the 'all you can eat' menu and it took a bit of searching and asking for me to work out the gluten free bits. I was handsomely fed on shredded crab salad, miso soup, sushi and sashimi although I think I shocked the waitress a little by asking for repeat appearances of the sashimi. In my defence, each small plate had three small slices of fish on it, so I felt justified in asking for more. And more. For dessert, I had the green tea creme brulee. Heaven. Heaven! OMG, I wish I'd had time to order another and risk looking like a fat pig because it was DIVINE. I'm hoping to drag the family there in the very near future for another round. I recommend the New Yorker which has the strange combination of salmon and creme cheese, but works! It's obviously a favourite with the young men because they were there in droves, being fed huge platters of sushi. It's good value at about $50 per head for all you can eat. Bring your appetite."

"It doesn't look like much from the outside, and let's face it, this part of Fitzroy Street isn't the best part (although it is lively!) of St. Kilda. But, Embassy@97 was a pleasant surprise. Crisp white tablecloths (ordinary cutlery, crockery and glassware) create a pleasant first impression and in addition to the small inside area there is a small courtyard (which would be improved if broken windows were repaired). The welcome and service were good, the menu small and very traditional and the meals were well prepared and presented. The snails and pate are both served with miniscule serving of bread (nice, but not nearly enough to enjoy the garlic sauce from the snails or the good-sized serve of pate). The main courses were generous and well cooked. The orange sauce on the duck did not overwhelm the crispy duck and the steak was perfectly cooked. Our shared dessert platter was more than enough and the mousse and ice cream were excellent. Perhaps the creme brulee was a bit too egg-y. Small but good quality wine list. A pleasant evening out."
