"Very nice brewery with a wide choice of dishes including a delicious buffet at reasonable prices. We were greeted by Isabelle, Axel and the boss (I think), all 3 very kind and attentive to our requests. A little more for Isabelle who has biking Enzo and Charlotte I strongly recommend and we will return without hesitation if we return to Mende"

"I asked for a well cooked duck breast because I am pregnant. He arrived rosé and my companion found a piece of meat that did not belong to him in his pot of sauce. If you reuse other customers' sauces, that doesn't happen! Very long wait for dishes"

"La Safraniere offers local specialities with a Mediterranean twist the chef knows all about flavours. A beef carpaccio included crushed olives as well as slivers of a local sheep's cheese. Trout is a speciality, both fresh and smoked. Guinea fowl (probably the best I've ever tasted) came with a compote of fennel, artichoke hearts and dried tomatoes which was to die for, as was the potato puree liberally laced with olive oil. A creme brulee with a hint of lavender came with a strawberry sorbet that was bursting with flavour. Service was professional and not rushed. The setting is delightful, in a small village within easy reach of Mende (a very attractive town in its own right). But it's small, so be sure to book. They also offer a traiteur service, which could be a good option if you were in a gite or camping in the vicinity."

"Going to La Safraniere has become our ritual when we visit Mende, which we do yearly. The restaurant is quaint, only or tables. The menu changes often enough that you are never bored and the dishes are prepared to perfection with fresh, local...products. the wine list is impressive without being frightening. It is a husband and wife business run with care and attention. Make a reservation, it is best, you will not regret it."
