"Great food, great atmosphere and even better service. We visited The Buccaneer after a week in the Isle of Wight to save cooking on our return home. Parking was easy for a Saturday evening, we had reserved a table for our party of 8 so there was no waiting on arrival. We were cheerfully greeted by Rob who showed us to our table and within a few minutes Charlotte welcomed us, took our order and helped my wife, who is gluten intolerant, with her food order. The food was quick and great, Charlotte was extremely attentive, friendly and the best server I have ever experienced. On leaving, both Charlotte and Rob thanked us and wished us a good evening and journey home, I only wish The Buccaneer was a little closer to home as I would be a regular visitor."

"We visited for lunch with a local resident who had been there many times in the past. She has good taste in restaurants so we expected it to be nice. The ambiance was pleasant and comfortable without being over the top. It was fairly busy. It is always difficult to know what it would be like in the evening and if it were much busier. i understand it is run by a husband and wife and has been around for a while but they certainly keep it fresh in feel. The service was far from pushy and we were given plenty of time but I would say it was on the right side of not waiting too long. The lunch time menu was sufficiently varied and was very good value. The food itself was really enjoyable. A trout Terrine was full of flavour and the grilled salmon was in a great sauce with a potato Dauphinoise and the bowl of mixed vegetables were all cooked very well. For dessert there were great Raspberry Creme Brulees and a terrific apple pancake. I would definitely go there again if the opportunity were to arise. The part of Fareham where it is located also had a charm that was a very pleasant surprise."
