"Hubby and I are in Hattiesburg for work. We kept seeing the “Wards” restaurant and decided .. why not? We don’t have one anywhere near our home. Upon entering we were greeted promptly and the sweet young lady at the counter filled us in on the history of the place and what the restaurant was famous for. She was extremely enthusiastic about the place and we could tell she was proud to be working there and happy with her job. That in itself was quite refreshing! She offered us a sample of the root beer and it was all she said it was… mmmm . Miss Gabby is a shining example of what I would want as an employee.. she totally set the tone for our visit and we are actually stopping in, in the morning for breakfast. Thank you Gabby you put smiles on our faces and we are so glad we decided to stop. The Big One , onion rings, Cajun fries and ROOT BEER FLOAT were fabulous as was the service!"

"I have been to Topher's a couple of times, once through the drive-thru and another time dining in. The drive-thru experience was fine. I remeber getting Mama's Best Chicken Salad Sandwich. It was a decent chicken salad sandwhich. When I came to dine in for breakfast with my brother around 6:30 one morning, there were only two people working and only one other person dining in. Their main focus was the drive-thru, so customer service inisde suffered. We had to wait a minute for someone to show up to the counter to take our order. Other employees started showing up around 7:00 a.m., which was when we were leaving. The food tasted good. My brother got a steak omelet, southern grits and pancakes. I got the Topher's Bowl and some pancakes too. The steak omelet, grits, and Topher's Bowl were pretty good. The pancakes were mediocre, which was disappointing. Next time I come, it will be for that Topher's Bowl. Though trying their signature biscuits and burgers are definitely on my radar too."

"They recently went under new management, we were a long-term customer because my husband had celiac disease. He loves her gluten-free pancakes. With changing hands there was a mixture of gluten-free and regular pancakes. The new managers and employees have treated the situation with excellent grace! I am pleased to see this place flourishing in the coming years! Thank you to the waiter and manager for your support and support! We'll be back soon!"

"Everything about Southbound is amazing...the menu, the eclectic decor, the friendly staff, along with the sound of the downtown train all make this little gem of local goodness the best in the Burg. The grilled turkey, spinach and artichoke on fresh baked rosemary garlic bread is a must!!!"
