"In Rockhampton and it is brunch time. We had seen in our motel an advertisement for the Merlo Coffee Café. It was just a few blocks from where we were, so that’s where we went. Then it got confusing …. Merlo Coffee Café is a part of The Coffee House Restaurant which in turn is part of The Coffee House Apartment Motel. Took me a short time to sort that out! After being warmly greeted, we were shown to a table for two, provided with menus and also made aware of the current specials even though we were there for brunch. A short while later we had decided and the duty waiter came over and took the order. No surprises with my travelling partner – fried eggs and bacon on toast. I was feeling in a healthy mood so for me crunchy Granola with coconut yoghurt, dragonfruit, passionfruit, blueberries strawberries and mint Greek. For both us a flat white coffee each. Costings were reasonable for what was on offer."

"If you enjoy eating in historic grand old buildings then this is one for you. Situated in the Main Street of Rockhampton this Cafe won't disappoint. I must fess up that I go there in particular for the Ozzy pie, chips and gravy, oh and the beer. When I have visited it's has been pretty quiet but I understand that it gets quite a lot of flow through traffic. The bakery side has the usuals, vanilla slices - all very yum. Staff are friendly!"

"This is our go to spot for breakfast as the big breaky and the sweet potato rosti (which can be done GF) is just too good. Good value and excellent coffee. There are also a few different Gluten Free options which is always a winner! Have also done dinner here and the dishes are just as good."

"Something a little different, a coffeeshop AND Harley Davidson motor cycle showroom. Situated 2 minutes walk from the econo lodge, city walk, it was a very handy place for breakfast as it opens early at 06:00 and if you have a long drive in front of you that is very useful indeed. You can have a full cooked breakfast or just coffee and pastries. The Eggs Benedict were particularly good. And while you wait for your food you can stroll around and admire the shiny new bikes."
