"I was at Madeline’s for brunch recently and had a very distasteful experience. My friends had planned and arranged an impromptu baby shower for me. I am extremely unhappy at the service we received. Food was mediocre and staff was incredibly rude and racist. We saw other large parties being well taken care of in the same section but we (as a predominantly female minority group) were not given any attention. I felt the blatant discrimination and therefore will not be returning. Unfortunately this is not an isolated experience. I gave them the benefit of the doubt by returning as a customer but will not be doing that again in the future. I reached out to the manager since this is a family business but she offered a forced apology and tried making excuses for her staff misbehavior by blaming our group for “special requests” which was not the case. As paying patrons, regardless of how busy the restaurant is, there is no reason we should have to pour our own coffee and not get any drink refills. Overall staff demeanor was extremely poor and ruined our experience that day. In addition, there was a major FLY problem in the outside seating area. I do NOT recommend. I have the opportunity to schedule holiday dinners here but I will take my family, business groups and large parties elsewhere. There are plenty of better, less discriminatory, establishments in the valley!"
