"The positives. As far as the food is concerned, Cream is everything a Patisserie should be. The coffee is great and the cakes, pastries and biscuits are elegant, beautifully presented and taste as good as they look, as well as being surprisingly well priced and...generously sized. The main meals are well made and do not give the impression of being afterthoughts. Between the 5 of us, we ordered 2 raspberry praline tortes, the Bakewell tart and the Victoria sponge along with a steak sandwich for my 15yo son. Everything was delicious. The decor is cosy, woodsy and European. There is also a gorgeous homewares store next door to browse through after you’ve finished. The negatives. Customer service. My sister tried to make a reservation for the Saturday before Mothers Day only to be curtly told that they didn’t take bookings in advance and to call back the day before. When she did, the young woman who answered the phone was blatantly rude and refused to take the booking. She more or less told my sister off; snapping that it was the day before Mothers Day (um, yes... and they were ‘always FAR too busy for that’. OK, so why not say so when we called the first time? Busy or not, it is unacceptable to be aggressive to new customers who are politely trying to do the right thing. Anyway, we took our chances on the day and scored a table inside. The service was slow and the staff were overworked and borderline unfriendly but we didn’t really mind that because we were expecting it. A waitress told my sister it would be OK for us to pay separately, but this wasn’t communicated to the front counter. The rest. On a slow day, this place must be delightful. On a busy day Cream is crowded and deafeningly noisy (to the point where the business next door has no choice but to keep their doors closed and the location on Cavendish Road doesn’t help. They have off street parking and I’d suggest you use it because their little row of shops is on a blind corner and crossing the road from the other side is downright dangerous. If you want a quiet, refined ‘High tea’ type experience, Tea and Niceties on Mount Tamborine would be a better bet. If you don’t really care about good natured service and you simply want to drop in somewhere for great food and a coffee on a weekend, I’d highly recommend it. The food was so good it almost made up for the attitude of the staff. I'd happily go back becase I really want another one of those Bakewell tarts, but I'll make sure it's not a weekend, or a special occasion, or a public holiday..."

"I visit cream whenever I am in the area and want a sweet fix. You can 't go wrong with freshly baked scones. The breakfasts are not out there with 'fancy health foods ' which I like, just your standard bacon and eggs, It is an all day breakfast as well. Personally I am not a big lover of the coffee that they serve. You can tend to wait a little so if you are in a rush best to get take away. I find the staff always helpful and nice."
