"Not my first time at Ariel but will be long before I head back again. Invited two friends to dine in with me and my husband. We drove two hours to the restaurant and were hungry and eager for a great night “in the city” (we live in the coastal town of Isabela). First let down, the place was very loud and many people seemed to be dressed to eat at Chuck E. Cheese. In the past, Ariel used to be a fine dining restaurant with patrons who would dress up, especially on a Saturday night. The dress code was described as casual elegant but many people were in flip flops, t-shirts and shorts. Bunch of children and a loud “market” environment. Not what it used to be. I tried to not let appearances fool me as I understand restaurants are struggling post pandemic and a place can have great food and elegant service nonetheless. But boy, that wasn’t the case here…. First bad impression, we were served Evian water that no one asked for neither they asked anyone at the table. By default, here they will charge you for bottled water. Period. Problem is that none of us care for still water; we all drink sparkling water but they told us they didn’t have any. No Perrier, no San Pellegrino; not any brand. Zero. This at 8:15pm on a Saturday night. I ordered a decent bottle of wine that was to my surprise, very fairly priced. Had the pleasure of seeing Marco and German; great assets. We weren’t served as much as a piece of bread after 1.25 hours to be exact. Then we were told they had no more bread. Zero.Same thing for some menu items. Food was delicious except for the overcooked, mushy risotto (an Italian hard to cook dish in a French restaurant) and the polenta, which came with a disgusting piece of cooked paper inside!!! No apologies given by ANYONE as I put aside the chewed up paper jerky. Scallops, croquettes and soup were very good.Fried chicken is very salty but nice and crispy. Biscuits hard and too dry. They almost didn’t offer us dessert as “it was late”. None good anyways."
