"This restaurant marketed itself as a restaurant specialising in Hunan Chinese cuisine - a regional Chinese cuisine which is most famous for its spicy dishes and the intensity of its flavour. I went to the restaurant with the hope of trying some genuine Hunanese cuisine.

I will review this joint under the following bulletpoints:

- Ambience 8/10: Good restaurant setting, place was well lit and relatively spacious and clean. Only bone to pick with was its obscure location as it also shares a building with another establishment

- Service 8/10: Quick and efficient service. The most important thing was that the waiters/waitresses were able to speak both Chinese and English fairly well and were able to cater to my needs straight away. The existence of restrooms definitely adds another point.

- Food - I ordered a pork belly lunch platter and requested for extra spicy
Rating 7/10
The rice was well done, the eggs and tomato were well cooked and the meat was succulent and soft and full of flavour, meaning it was boiled and cooked properly.

However the food loses points for:
- Lack of spiciness: considering it was meant to serve Hunan cuisine the dish lacked authenticity in its attempt to uphold Hunanese style cooking. I had asked for extra spiciness yet the meat was still mild - because they had used large green chilli peppers (which are very light in terms of spice), thus compromising the spice of the dish. The same goes for the eggs/tomato which was also mild in flavour

- They also served watermelon with the dish in the same platter which was a bit off putting since it looked a bit out of place to put fruit next to the main dishes.

Price - 7/10 $13.80 for the platter was reasonable

Overall - 7.5/10
The restaurant clearly serves good food and has a good atmosphere, however if you are looking for genuine Hunan food then it doesn't make the cut."

"This popular restaurant has great food, but the table / seat layout is a bit uncomfortable and awkward. I am mainly here for dinner with colleagues and friends at 6-8 clock on weekdays and it is always busy. The service here is fine, the pricing is decent and waiting for the food is quite average. Your spicy dishes are very sharp when you order them, prepare themselves in advance with cups of water! We always order your pasta dishes and enjoy it, so we are always there again. o (^ ∀ ^ *) o"

"The roti (first on the menu under Roti) was completely soft and butter-like and paired perfectly with the curry sauce. The Nasi Lemak and the Mee Goreng were delicious. Exactly the right amount of taste. The chicken was really well fried. The price was really cheap. Grief Highly recommended, will be back next time when we visit Sydney."

"Very authentic Chinese, but should have remembered that they do not debon the duck. This is located in a shopping center with a food dish. Choose a lot at reasonable prices. Certainly had a lot of rice and vegetables on the plate. Good for Fast Food Joint."

"Basically walked around the entire City (and Redfern) and kind of stumbled on this Taiwanese restaurant when going near Chinatown. The place was relatively packed for a Sunday night, until we discovered they had seating upstairs (because downstairs looked really bare, seating about 15 people I liked how brightly lit the room was, and the waitress was really efficient at giving tea when I asked for it. Ordered the crispy pork fillet with rice 14), and funnily what I noticed I got (when cutting the meat) on the table was a crispy chicken with rice. The waitress did realise and apologised, but it did not bother me because I really liked the crispiness and seasoning of the fried...read more"

"We used the Groupon voucher for six and the food was splendid. Initially started with dumpling appetizers and then the main courses arrived. The fish was fresh and tasty. The servings were large enough we had a lot of leftovers. Desert was great with juicy watermelon and the ice cream was so good we wished we could buy the flavours separately. The house wines were also great. Ambiance was great and the place was clean. We will be coming back!"
