"I have lived in the same building for more than 30 years with a restaurant on the ground floor and only been there this once, but shall probably go again. This is more of a gastro pub than a brasserie and the prices reflect this. The...food is, all the same, quite good, but the menu not very expansive. The meat, from their family business, is excellent. In summer, when the weather is good, the outside space is crowded so book."

"Die Stadt Fribourg besitzt bereits eine ziemliche hohe Dichte an gastronomischen Restaurants, in denen man gut und auch zu vernünftigen Preisen essen kann - zumindest im Vergleich mit Deutschschweizer Städten. Seit dem Pächterwechsel im Frühjahr nimmt das Grand Pont auf dieser Liste einer der Spitzenplätze ein.Das Grand Pont ist schön gelegen an der Zähringerbrücke und besitzt eine schöne Terrasse. Aber auch vom Speisesaal hat man eine tolle Sicht auf die Altstadt. Das Interieur hat sich seit dem Pächterwechsel nur leicht verändert - hier wäre es schön, wenn der Besitzer der Immobilie einmal ein paar Franken in die Hand nehmen würde, um das Innere etwas zu modernisieren. Aber das ist auch der einzige Punkt, den man kritisieren könnte. Denn wir verbrachten einen tollen Abend im Restaurant mit sympathischem und höchst aufmerksamen Personal und mit einem wunderbaren Essen zu äusserst fairen Preisen.Gegessen haben wir das Abendmenu für 76.-, wobei jeweils 4 Vorspeisen, 4 Hauptspeisen und 4 Desserts zur Auswahl standen. Als gelungene Willkommensgrüsse aus der Küche gab es im Voraus frische Radieschen mit Butter und Fleur du sel und eine kleine Kräutersuppe. Bein den Vorspeisen entschieden wir uns für die "Terre"-Varianten: Sowohl die "Ballotine de foie gras" als auch die "Mille-Feuille de canard confit" wurden als geschmackvolle Kompositionen serviert. Auch die die Hauptspeisen und die Dessert waren einfach köstlich und gelungen zusammengestellt: So wurde das Kalbsfilet mit einer Sauce mit konfierten Zitrusfrüchten und Eierschwämmen serviert und von konfierten Tomaten begleitet - und der "Assiette chocolat" bot eine schlicht himmlische Variation.Zu erwähnen gilt es auch die offenen Weine: Selten habe ich in der Schweiz in einem Restaurant so gute offene Weine getrunken. Fazit: Wir verbrachten einen wunderbaren Abend im Grand Pont und werden sicher wieder in das Restaurant kommen. Wir hoffen, dass die neuen Pächter dieses Niveau halten können und wünschen Ihnen viel, viel Erfolg. Aus diesem Grund können wir allen einen Besuch dringend empfehlen."

"This restaurant really is a gem and if you haven't been there, then you really should! It is very difficult to get in for dinner because it is so popular so either be organised and book early, go mid-week or go for lunch. The food is delicious and also very good value. Anyhow we just had another lovely lunch with friends and family - perfect :-)"
