"'Winding your way down on Petaling Street. Lite in your head, and dead on your feet '<br/ <br/ The Dear Luncher and family have ordered takeaway from Petaling Street before, now it was time to perch inside for a feed. It was a sweltering Melbourne day and Petaling Street offered comfort and air conditioning. The Carnegie branch of Petaling is spacious and expansive. The menu is also expansive. Almost too expansive, too many choices. Upon being seated there seemed to be about five different laminated A3 documents to peruse. The walls were also peppered with pictures of dish options. This was annoying, I 'm here to eat not apply for a mortgage. But I digest, as I often do.<br/ <br/ Pan fried pork dumplings (12) were ordered, as well as a Char kway teow and Beef Rendang (with rice). This turned out to be quite a lot of food for just two people, but The Dear Luncher just rolled up his sleeves and got to work.<br/ <br/ The dumplings were of a high quality. The casings were still fluffy and soft despite being fried delicious little morsels. This is the difference between being lightly fried and drowned in oil fried. The Char kway teow was absolutely spot on. Mrs Luncher was lamenting the lack of prawns (only two) but Your Dear Luncher doesn 't care much for those creatures. This particular Char kway teow was a fabulous exponent of this well traveled dish, highly recommend.<br/ <br/ The Beef Rendang was aromatic and plentiful. Served on a bed of lettuce it looked terrific. It was not the softest and most 'pully aparty ' Rendang The Dear Luncher has consumed, but it was satisfactory.<br/ <br/ All in all a plesant experience. The Dear Luncher enjoys comfort and spacious surrounds and Petaling offers this up to their clientele. Beer prices very good as well. $6 for a Tsing Tao big tick."

"A friend took me there 4 years back and since then I have been taking more and more friends to try out their food. There Biryani's and Nihari is pout of this world. They for sure know how to cook their meats. Any meat dish you order it quite literally melts in your mouth. Their Lassi's are rich and filling. watch out with the spice levels because when they ask Mild, Medium, Hot they actually mean it. I always go for hot simply because I love my spice hit. <br/>Excellent and fast service. Its a couple of minutes walk from Carnegie station if you plan on taking the public transport."

"Had a few visits to this place over the years. Lately, had lunch with a group of friends.Had a Karaage Chicken Ramen. Soup, ramen and Karaage are nicely done. Staffs are reasonably friendly. Place is a bit packed given the size of the shop.The place is kept reasonably tidy and clean.In short, a place for ramen in Carnegie. The only downsize of the shop is that it's small and gives you the feeling of being cramped in a small space."

"A small family run Indonesian restaurant in Camberwell, this one surprised us with an extensive menu.Traditional Balinese cuisine, with a good selection of vegetarian options in entrée and mains.The service was great, husband and wife team, cheerful and helpful.We ordered 4 entrées to share for 6 and 2 main dishes. The portions were quite generous and we did not feel hungry.The dessert options were pretty good as well, ordering 5 desserts to share, the portions were adequate.Positives: Good sized portions, food arrived fresh and piping hot.The descriptions were pretty good and proprietor helpful in making choices.Stand out dishes were the gado gado and sayur urap. The janganan bali was pretty good as well.The pancake & ice cream dessert was very different.Negatives: small restaurant with a take-away joint like vibe.While the restaurant is a BYO, only coke/lemonade was available, which was quite disappointing.The spice levels were quite low, we asked them to give us some red chillies to add to the dishes, surprisingly the spiciest item was the dessert rujak manis with a red chilly dressing!The Balinese couple who run the place were very charming and as we were the only patrons at the place, the wife came out to chat with us. We'll be back again!"

"A true case of you get what you pay for. We ordered the $6 special - small schnitzel, peas, gravy and either chips or mash. The schnitzel was inedible - gristly and pink. When I took it back I was told that they had checked the temperature and it was cooked. I'm not a chef but it looked disgusting to me. When I was told it was fine and I said we wouldn't be eating it, the response was a shrug. Are the mash - it was okay. The kids' had chips instead and they were like cardboard. Gravy had no flavor. Swedish apple cake was cold and mushy - underwhelming. The kids' liked the favored water. Will definitely not eat here again."
