"This place was recommended by taxi driver as I was looking for soup for my wife as she came down with a brief bout of the traveling flu. Their soup was delicious and just what we needed. We went back for the food and found...it top notch. Great find!"

"I'll have to admit that I've been there a few times in the last 2 weeks. With all of the great restaurants here in San Miguel that says alot for how great the food and service are. Karin's soups are fantastic, especially the Cauliflower and Curry and Cream of Broccoli. What's really nice (and unique for Mexico) is that Karin makes sure that her food is healthy as well as delicious - with the cream soups really having a little milk but no actual cream (you would never know!). The salad selections are excellent - I have had the Spinach salad and Chicken Salad, served fresh and with homemade dressings. My friends have had the sandwiches on fresh baked baguettes and they have said they were excellent.I did note the review that mentioned the Tres Leches cake with the chocolate topping - my idea of the best dessert ever. During Aug-Sep Karin's serves Chiles en Nogada. I had them last year when I was here and they were great - local friends of mine (who know their Mexican food) just had them last week and raved.Don't miss Karin's Cafe - it's on a beautiful little side street right behind the Parroquia Church. The staff is helpful (especially Juan) and they will cater to your specific requests. Enjoy!!"

"This is Japanese home cooking at its finest. This is a tiny restaurant and take-out joint with about 4 cramped tables. But the food is exquisite. There are generally about 15 dishes to choose from. Combine whatever you want into a bento. We always get four items. The price is ridiculous, less than 3 pesos a dish. No typo. The dishes change daily, but here's a sample: pasta salad with miso and tahini dressing, hijiki with carrots, shrimp hand rolls, seasoned rice in tofu skin with shiitake mushrooms (my fav), spinach salad (more complicated and flavorful than the std ohitashi), vegetable tempura, fried rice balls, shrimp balls, fish cakes, miso soup, green curry, you get the idea. You can eat like a king for less than $5. It's a miracle. And so much more interesting than one of the standard sushi restaurants that all have pretty much the same menu. If you hanker for Japanese food in San Miguel, do not miss this little place. It's only open 12-6, closed on Tuesdays and every other Monday."

"I went back after a few months to eat my favorite pad Thai but when they served the meal I noticed that the noodles were pale when normally it had an orange tint to the dish. It had very little flavor, they used to put...spices that were originally brought from Thailand but the dish only had noodles with vegetables and peanuts. It’s upsetting because the cost is quite high... It used to be my favorite Thai food restaurant in Mexico but I don’t think I will be going back."

"We were super excited to find this place. The restrooms were fairly clean, as was the dining area. Service was friendly and proficient.The menu was short and had few options. We tried all of the Margarita flavors, ceviches, octopus, snacking platter and nothing was what we had expected. The top award goes to the snacking platter because they had chili coated grasshoppers which we'd never tried before. The remaining dishes lacked spice and depth.The octopus tasted like mint. The margaritas all tasted smoky. The ceviche was saved by excellent mango. I'd be lying if I said I wanted to try this one again. I'm a bit disappointed. The reviews really placed this one on a pedestal that it couldn't live up to."

"Near our hotel, and we happened to pass it. Very nice interior (courtyard and 2nd level Generous and VERY attractive breakfast. Good flavor and nicely plated. Inexpensive. MORE than worth the cost. They serve lunch (and dinner? too. Menu in Spanish, but 'steamlined ' enough so...that even a non speaker (like myself was able to navigate it. Staff very helpful. I was quite impressed."
