"Lost Lake: I’m all about warm weather and the tropics, so it shouldn’t surprise you that one of my favorite types of bar are “Tiki” bars. I tried Lost Lake this past weekend while visiting Chicago. It took about 15 minutes to get a table, which isn’t too bad for downtown Chicago. Two pieces of décor really stood out to me. The first was the fish tank that held a single piranha near the entrance. Second would be the cave like environment that housed a table for larger groups in the back. The drink I got was called 'Waikiki at Dusk Forever '. It was comprised of Trinidad rum, over proof multi-island rum, aged Jamaican rum, passionfruit, banana, cinnamon, cold brew coffee, and cream. It tasted good, but what impressed me more was the “presentation” of the drink coconut cup, swirly straw, flower, piranha swizzle stick).The drinks are a little pricey $12) but for downtown Chicago that’s about right. I just feel weird buying drinks that cost more than some meals. It’s a cool place, but I still prefer my local MKE tiki bar “Foundation” over it.
