"I had dinner here four times due to a combination of convenience and fatigue from my activities. The first evening was very promising. Salade vosgienne had lettuce, tomato, croutons, warm lardons, boiled eggs, and creamy vinaigrette that overall was a basic but very satisfying starter. Entrecote looked more like veal than beef. I ordered medium but it was sent out a little underdone but had good flavor in a sizeable portion. The sauce au poivre with whole peppercorns was nicely peppery but was thickened with gelatin and otherwise fairly insipid. Accompanying crispy frites were excellent, and a ragout of eggplant and green and red bell peppers was serviceable. The next evening, the cervelas was not so good. This is an alsatian dish of sausage wrapped in bacon. The sausage was large but bland, reminiscent of american "bologna". The bacon wrapping was undercooked. The entire dish was swimming in hollandaise sauce. On the last two evenings, I had pizzas which were both excellent, with crispy thin crust and generous toppings. For dessert, a very good crepe was wrapped in a nice little package with diced apples swathed in melted dark chocolate and butter. Crème brulee was curdled and forgettable. Service provided by one of the proprietors was attentive, with a smile. The chef can be heard whistling pleasant tunes while he works."
