"Of the three or so restaurants with a Michelin star in or near the well-loved historical wine-town of Deidesheim, L.A. Jordan has to be the most pioneering, international and hip. The restaurant itself is composed of three dining spaces set back in the courtyard behind...the luxurious, small boutique Hotel Ketschauer Hof and shares a history with the impressive Weingut Geheimer Rat Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan. After being greeted in the courtyard upon closing in on the restaurant by a friendly young woman, we were led to our table in the large room looking onto the courtyard--first observation: they obviously take note of when guests are approaching them well before the guests arrive at the door (nice! . With the large French doors open all evening, my wife and I enjoyed the long summer sunset and fresh air in a tall room designed with nods to Philippe Starck, with touches which would not be out of place in South Beach Miami or Los Angeles. Both of us ordered the Signature Menu, which contains the greatest hits of Executive Chef Daniel Schimkowitz, and their wine menu pairing. First course: foie gras with fermented pepper and vinaigrette (great gateway . Second course: egg yolk, ham, parmesan and caviar (inventive, complex . Third course: salmon trout in a sweet, sour and spicy seasoning (delicious, international . Fourth course: an extraordinary charred beef in black burgundy truffles and teriyaki (technical, amazingly delicious . Fifth course: beans, almond milk, banana (singular, imaginative . All of these plates showcased artistic presentation, and used the fresh products in a well-thought, masterful, even flawless fashion. The second, fourth and fifth course left very lasting memories. On the hospitality front, the French Maitre d'Hotel Gilles Duflot offered perfect, friendly service with real charm, spirit and a sense of play. Second observation: from his conversation, which alluded to matters related to my profession, I could tell the restaurant staff google guests before they arrive, to get to know potential XPs beforehand. (You are guests in their game. The restaurant had a very enthusiastic young sommelier who described his logic in deciding on each pairing with enthusiasm and who no doubt enjoys the wonderful advantage of working in a restaurant located in the heart of one of the best wine regiions in Germany. Service personnel, outfitted in dress shirts with nice jeans, were very attentive in a casual, friendly manner, without stiff convention or outmoded rituals. Additional dessert wines, cheese course, and coffees were delicious, and they also graciously had prepared a cake for my wife's birthday. All in all, faultless, enjoyable, fun, creative, a restaurant at the top of its game."

"We were four last night in the restaurant 1718 in deidesheim. the food (7 courses) was very excellent and at very high level. Cause for the bad evaluation is only and alone the service. when entering the restaurant we stood several minutes as ordered and not picked up in the entrance area, while numerous service forces have run past us without being of interest to us in the least (including the restaurant manager, as has turned out later) after having accompanied us to the table (also this part has taken over the only worker this evening who was my personal highlight yesterday, but later more) came after a few times said restaurant in addition to long waiting periods, which were due to the fact that more guests were accepted than the number of service forces could only be almost overcome, there was often a lack of an accurate indication of what was on the teller, a uniform equipment of all the guests in the table with the necessary cutlery, which was partly cleared (of 2 guests in the table) of the broth plate and so on. "On the occasion of my wife's wedding day and birthday, it should be a special menu tonight. We both wave between Ketschauer Hof and Deidesheimer Hof. At the end it became a belly decision and we ordered a table in the “Black Hahn” of the Deidesheimer Hof on Saturday night. The Deidesheimer Hof already plays the top league of gourmet restaurants in Germany with its “Black Hahn” restaurant. The restaurant is located in the basement of the hotel building. The cellar is not disturbing. Under the old vault there is a very bright and light ambience. The tables are pleasantly airy and prevent a narrowed impression. The perfectly covered tables received us after. In the evening the service was performed perfectly by all operators. You have to get used to the kind of Sommelier Andreas Weber. Here was a little irritating in the service of tonight. My wife and I chose two different 6 menus. I ordered my menu with the proposed wine tasting. So my wife also asked for accompanying wines for your menu. The card did not suggest that. The young lady who picked up our order pointed out that it would not be possible to use two vines. And asked if we agreed to serve a common one. We were a little irritated, but basically we had nothing to do with it. But that was what Mr Weber had when he asked for our wine. Our reference to the order triggered head shakes and the remark that this was not possible on Saturday night. Mr Weber then seems to be in agreement with the service. But not with us anymore. The wines that were then served to the menu were completely satisfactory! Mr. Weber baptized and served us even more than 7 wines, as he offered several alternatives to the individual courses during the menu. A very nice, well-tuned and creative selection of wines accompanied us through the evening. We are still surprised at this stumbling stone, but in view of the wines served at the time, we have no more criticism. But why are there no accompaniment for both menus? So the food was ordered, I count here the 6 courses without the various additional Amuse Geules. This would blow a small frame. Perfectly prepared courses were served throughout the course. A few details remained particularly in memory. The cauliflower of Tajine was an absolute highlight, I was allowed to drink with my wife. Perfectly cooked, so simple, so brilliantly good! The cold smoked aal from my menu was another highlight of the evening. Rehrücken and Gans were perfectly cooked. It was a fun and an anticipation on each other. Impress the desserts. I'm not a lover of sweet menus, but I liked them unrestricted. An extralob. At first I regretted not to have ordered a cheese dish at the view of the cheese car, but at these desserts I did not miss a cheese later. It would have been hard to take him. The impressive chocolate car almost slept until the end of the menu, but you still took the seductive look. Such an evening has its price and if you have to pay 400 EUR for one night on two in the restaurant, the price-performance ratio is the decisive size in the rating. What we would do with the end. The restaurant could meet its requirements and offer an appropriate return at the price. We had a nice evening. Absolutely recommended."
