"Have been twice in the last month. The first time we were told half way through the meal that they did not have any more pickerel considering the special is all you can eat pickerel, this is poor organization. We were told that we would only pay the lesser price for the regular pickerel dinner but that we would have to pay for our glass of wine which was included in the special which made the price more expensive in the end than had we received the all you can eat special. We argued and in the end we did not have to pay for the glass of wine but this should have been complimentary from the beginning as the restaurant did not fulfill its obligation in what we had ordered. Other minor difficulties made it an unsatisfactory meal, although the fish was tasty. We returned several weeks later once the kitchen was more prepared for the summer tourist season. We did receive the all you can eat pickerel but the price jumped to $18.95 and an alcoholic beverage was no longer included with the meal. This is a fair jump in price for a lesser meal. Service is so slow and disorganized that it takes about 40 minutes to receive a second portion of fish. Ladies, use a tray to bring water, salads and dessert instead of carrying things one at a time. A water pitcher would reduce the time it takes you to take one glass to the kitchen to refill for water. What a disorganized waste of time. Servers are friendly but so inefficient. Dessert was so tiny it was almost embarrassing. It was much better last year. The fish though is very nicely cooked and tasty. We sat at a table beside the washroom door. Every time the door opened you could smell the Lysol like cleaning material as it would waft over our table. Did not add to the flavour experience. I don't think we will be back this summer. Too bad as there is great potential but lots of improvement is needed."

"Everyone raves about Ches' Fish Chips in St. John's but if you've ever had Ches' (like we did) and then have an opporutnity to be in Grand Bank, this is the place. The fish was much better less batter and perfectly cooked, light...and flaky. They have a fisherman's platter that has cod, scallops, cod tongues, and shrimp (and of course you have to have fries with dressing and gravy on the side Cod tongues are the very delicate and like scallops can be overcooked easily and it makes them a chewy mess. These were perefct! Melt in your mouth so tender and light. I was thrilled as thrilled as your waist can be aftre a feed of deep fry like we had! And it all cost just over tip, drinks, taxes, and big meals for two."

"We went here for a nice lunch but the real highlight is dessert. Cheesecake to be specific. I had the baked apple cheesecake, which really doesn’t have apple in it....but a local berry. Very tasty."

"Went on an empty Sunday. Hardly anyone there. Asked if we could sit by the window and were told okay. Then 5 minutes later we were told to move to a smaller table just in case they had a walk in. There were plenty of larger empty tables. It was awkward and strange. So we decided to take our business somewhere else. Can 't recommend."

"Don't be fooled by the cute and quaint exterior/interior of this place. They will scam you while you're standing in the coffee line. This past weekend I went to Spirit Rock Cafe with my friends for some coffee and the prices, as were listed on the board and also confirmed by the man and woman behind the counter, were $4.50 for a vanilla latte. Yet when I go to pay the man has charged me $6.20 and when I asked why it was that much he tells me that is with taxes. $1.70 taxes on a coffee...? That's not right! After consulting with my other friends it seems that they all paid over $6 for a coffee...which was nothing but average at that! The service was terrible, the people were rude, and all-around unfriendly. If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. Never going back here again!"
