"I treated my girlfriend to an overnight spa experience for her birthday. Her spa treatments were booked in for 1500hrs but we arrived at 1100hrs and had use of all the leisure facilities. We used the swimming pool sauna steam room and Jacuzzi and these were not overcrowded and were clean and of a high standard. As part of the spa offer we had 10 pound each allowance off lunch items and 25 pound each off evening meal items. After a few hours use if leisure facilities we took lunch and the restaurant/bistro was welcoming staff were very warming and helpful and food portions were excellent and food piping hot. My girlfriend had her treatments and As I didn't fancy mine they gave some if my time to her so she had extra treatments which was great. She said that the spa facility was great and the staff excellent and professional. For our evening meal we had the lamb shoulder and it was truly one of the best lamb dishes we have tried. Dessert was also great. Room was fantastic size with great river view and size of bed was massive room was clean also. We had a complementary breakfast in morning before checking out and this again was of high standard. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay we would recommend the spa packages to others as good value and will be back for more. If I had to just give a little constructive criticism it's that the carpets in the main hallways are dated threadbare and stained. Carpets in rooms were fine. If they could replace these carpets then I couldn't find fault with this very welcoming gem of a spa hotel"

"Fantastic greeting on arrival made to extremely welcome and cared for, promptly seated and served drinks. Our food was very quick to arrive after ordering, was presented well and tasted great. Great atmosphere with a fantastic singer for entertainment. Really great night out"

"Held a funeral wake here mid May 2022. Small funeral. Ordered buffet for 20 people. The food was extremely tasty and was enough for 30 to 35 people. Everything was well organised. The atmosphere was good the staff very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We were even supplied with large polystyrene boxes to take left over food home. The cost of the buffet was extremely reasonable and I would definitely recommend this pub/restaurant for any gathering."

"Arrived late afternoon was shown straight to our room. Extremely cold so turned the radiators on and only warmed up slightly at the bottom! The room itself was freezing, luckily I took my own hairdryer to had to keep that on for over an hour to warm the room up at night and in the morning. Light in the bathroom didn't work and the hairdryer provided was blowing air the wrong way out so not only did it sound like it was going to blow up but the burning smell was horrendous. Bedroom was clean, included a random sofa. Tv in the room however no remote so up and down changing channels or the volume. Cheap hotel, wouldn't recommend or return back. Very dated but in their defence without stripping the whole hotel and refurbishing the lot I am not sure what they can do with it."
