"We arrived in Sagunto on an evening when there was a performance in the nearby (fabulous) theatre so finding a table for 7 people was a challenge. Meson El Castillo was able to accommodate us with an outside table on the main street excellent for people watching! So far, so good. The positive vibe continued with our server who was vivacious, friendly and welcoming. Now it gets worse. Other reviewers have noted that there is an extensive list of tapas but limited availability. This was our experience too very frustrating. The food we did order was ok but expensive compared with other tapas restaurants. Portion size varied and the food was uninspired. Desserts were dull. There are many better places to eat in the old town of Sagunto."

I've eaten the lunch menu too, and it was ok, but I would definitely recommend calling first and reserving a paella. The paella de senyoret is excellent with large pieces of all your favourites: octopus, squid, cuttlefish, etc."
