"This cafe is a gem of a place and we visit often. The food is delicious, the choice varied and I defy anyone to refuse a dessert! However, today’s visit was spoilt again by the manager/owner (we think he was). While folk were eating he...vacuumed the carpet, clip clopped his way around the tables like a sergeant major (wooden floors crepe soles would be better) replacing cutlery etc and removing used dishes while people were still eating which, in out case, was very off-putting and uncomfortable. Please sir, if you read this, address the issues or you will be losing a group of regular customers to elsewhere."

"We recently visited and ordered the Mexican bean burgers and vegan fish 'n'chips. Unfortunately, the Mexican bean burger was disappointing as it was muddy in the middle and was dry outside. Not good. The chips and salsa dip were fine, but it would have been nice to have cooked homemade chips instead of oven. The vegan fish 'n' chips was tasty and reminded me of a Vbites fish fillet and the muddy peas was a good companion to the dish. Although we didn't get dessert on this occasion, we tried the chocolate and coconut cake from another Greene King pub operation that offers the same menu. The cakes were deliciously rich and pampering and I would highly recommend. In summary, the nets need improvement, but the deserts are great and it is good that a separate vegan menu is available so that it eats a good place for all together."

"Everyone who was a fan in the Maltings (now defunct) should know that Da has now opened her own restaurant in Frederick Street, Laygate, South Shields. The menu is instantly recognizable the same as on offer back at the Maltings; the soups,...starters, stir fry dishes, currys and salads. Not forgetting the excellent deep fried ice cream for dessert."

"Just awful. I took my daughters for lunch while in the area and I wish I hadn't. The restaurant had a very strong smell of old fat. The skins were thrown onto the dips so we're covered in thick mayonnaise. One daughter asked for ketchup and I can't even explain what it looked like! Pizzas were typical of this type of restaurant but sadly the margarita was covered in dry herbs and the pepperoni which we asked for with no chilli, instead had a strong spicy pepperoni on. My pasta was covered in a watery milk, nothing like the creamy sauce it should have been. The waitress knew we weren't enjoying our meal as she looked embarrassed when she cleared all of our plates. We often visit pizzeria restaurants and get the specials and enjoy them but this is a place I won't re visit. Staff standing on the step smoking is also a big put off for me"

"Amazing in South Shields area!! (HALAL) +fresh Food, nice menu for kids, and fabulous atmosphere indoor and outdoor. But the shortage of parking. American Burger was good but tasted as “Turkish kofta”. Anyway it was great to be out there"

"We were booked in for Christmas Eve for 6 people. The food and service was top class and we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. I would highly recommend this place for a nice chilled out place to eat!!"

"This truck is locally for me, so I've been looking forward to tasting the pizza here for a while. This opportunity was created and a preorder for vegan pizza was made online and a collection time confirmed. The pizza was delicious with a good selection of toppings and a great base. The vegan cheese used was also excellent, but there is a small fee for it. The pair that went north is so friendly and the word has it that they soon move into a physical terrain, so observe this space. Until then, social media check for updates where they will be as they cover a few areas of South Tyneside."
