"We had a lovely meal overlooking the ocean, with outstanding service. Between the two of us, we ordered green salads, halibut, and sturgeon (wrapped with a prawn mousse) a particularly innovative presentation. They were able to accommodate my husband's need for a gluten free...(celiac) meal. Happily, almost all desserts are GF. We ordered the Sea Buckthorn chocolate dessert, which was gorgeous and scrumptious, and the rhubarb tart w/bay ice cream. All excellent!"

"We went to dinner back to sobo (we went two years ago. I called in advance to make a reservation and spoke to the owner/cook to see if teller could be modified for vegans. she said sure (they did the last time. the menu changes. we had this beautiful dish minus the yogurt make it vegan. it was divine! yam with charred wild rice, kale, kicherbsen and slightly spicy sauce. they even had a vegan cookie; . highly recommended."

"Lovely service, great atmosphere with lots of light and windows. Food was excellent. We enjoyed the halibut with butter chicken sauce and the Gnudi with yam and Brussels sprout sides. Everything was cooked perfectly, so fresh and satisfying."

"I love the West coast for it's beautiful, rugged beaches. So we wanted to find a place for lunch to enjoy the views. The restaurant is well designed to take in the spectacular scenery from all directions. We went the first afternoon for a drink, and were very impressed with the service. My husband especially appreciated the extensive menu of craft beer! So we came back the next day for lunch (but first took a stroll on the beautiful beach infront). Our server was very friendly and helpful. The pizzas were very nice (thin crust). Definitely one of my favourite spots in the pacific rim area!"

"July has always evoked great gourmet ice cream in cones for me, especially as my grandson has a birthday on the last day of the month. I was a warm, sunny day today in mid July, and not having seen my two grandchildren since the...Covid lockdown began in March I wanted to treat them to the luscious delight of a delicious gourmet ice-cream in a cone. As we are currently separated by an hour’s drive; then an almost two-hour ferry journey, and then a road trip of around two and a half hours,I had to be creative to make that happen. I had written a great review of Chocolate Tofino (CT), which sells both handcrafted chocolates, as well as superb gelato and sorbet from its location in a quaint building, just as one approaches Tofino, an ocean village on Canada’s Wild West Coast, overlooking the Pacific Ocean on Vancouver Island. As ice-cream can obviously not be easily shipped, if at all, I had last July bought a delicious array of chocolates, which one of its staffers, Serina, had kindly dropped at my family’s home in Uclulet, Tofino non-identical ocean village twin some miles south of Tofino. Hannah had helped me with the selection last July and I had got help, too, from CT’s co-owner Kim. This time I wanted ice cream. We have a lucky family number of as my granddaughter was born on and both my son and my daughter-in-law were born around noon at Given that, I sent my two grandchildren but in a way which would exercise their arithmetic brains too — a Canadian and a US each, which would be around the price of a gourmet ice-cream once they are able to go out again and contemplate a trip to Tofino. I called CT to find out about flavors they would enjoy. This time I was looked after by the very helpful and friendly Cyra. She told me about CT’s ice cream called Hammerhead, which is black in color and its ingredients are a secret. My family live in a great new house, which it all black and I can see this ice-cream appealing to them. In a cone with one scoop it is CT is also offering a summer special sorbet called PomBlue, made from pomegranate and blueberries. So CT beckons with interesting flavors, great tasting ice-cream and sorbets, chocolates, and always perfect service. Posted by S Fuller I"
