"Been to the one on Tunbridge Wells loads of times but the one in Crowborough lacks the same atmosphere and the food was very poor. My friend ordered the Swordfish and the texture was a mush instead of the expected meaty texture, waiter was friendly and took the price off the bill but by then it had already ruined the evening, I ordered the Seabass and it was smaller than normal and also didn't taste fresh it has a slight twang to it. Sadly we paid for starters and drinks and left to go and get a ready meal. Won't be back. Waiter was apologetic and friendly but I have now lost faith on the freshness and the abilities of the chef. I would have thought he would have spotted a Swordfish steak being more like mashed potato."

"After a long walk and a bus ride to get there we were welcomed with mulled wine and hot food despite the late arrival for lunch. This was my 2nd visit there I previously visited in summer and spent an afternoon in the company of a live band and good hospitality. This pub is little oasis in the countryside round Crowborough."

"After a few busy weeks of working I took my son to the C&G, never been before, for a Sunday lunch. Our starters were great, but the mains fell very short of our expectations. We both ordered the beef roast with extra beef rib. To receive one slice of substandard beef together with the extra short rib, of which the bone was the most prominent item on our plates was not worth the £14.95! The service however, from server Alicia, was top class."
