"At our hall visit the Handel House was on the program list. Some of his works like water music or fireworks are well known to us. So what was closer than looking at Handel's birthplace today was a museum. Georg Friedrich Handel was born in 1685, in the age of baroque. His birthplace is still preserved. Nevertheless it has a few hundred years on the hump, it is modernly decorated inside. The exhibition „Händel – der Europäische“, currently presents the special exhibition „Händel als Staatskomponist?“ as well as a musical instrument museum. After we paid four Euros per person, we crawled the ancient stairs up into the 2nd OG. There we had to decide – to the left to the musical instrument exhibition or to the right to the Handel exhibition. I had gone half to the left, so we first admired many old, well-preserved musical instruments. An organ is built in the 1st OG. In the 2nd OG you can look into the organ from above and look at the structure. On the other side of the 2nd OG there was the exhibition on Handel's life. Handel has lived in England for many years. Not only the display boards of the exhibitions were in German and English, but some exhibits were provided with English captions as they came from there. Funny I found a picture on which Handel was tracked by his family on the attic at midnight, sitting on a piano. It was believed to be in the house. The little ghost was quite real : in the 1st OG there are other musical instruments. On a keyboard instrument you can have the different sounds of the musical instruments, e.g. a piano, an organ, etc., played at the touch of a button. There's a tour of Handel's life here. After we had walked through different rooms, we finally came to a small theatre. At the touch of a button, one could look at works by Handel on stage, with explanations of the Master himself. Back on the ground floor, I got a book about the exhibitions in Handel's house with many interesting details. In addition, there is the usual souvenir to buy Schnickschnack.
