"Really wish I’d read the reviews first ! Booked afternoon tea with champagne for a birthday treat for my husbands birthday. Nice welcome and swiftly seated to a beautifully set table. Savoury was simple and very basic. Scones were on the smaller side no fruit but cherry which. I had both while hubby had both plain scones. Tasteless mini muffins, all very simple. Three of the smallest sandwiches each. A sausage meat ball not even a sausage roll of any description. No tea menu whilst no big problem would have been a nice touch. Cakes sweetie treats ! Where to start not a piece of cake in sight, just tiny sweet bites all on a single side plate ! Placed on table the table. When I asked the server to please tell me what we were eating she said she’d have to check … the Apple tart definitely was not apple and was rhubarb although she was adamant I was wrong, the chap next to us agreed definitely rhubarb! The mini chocolate choux pastry just collapsed and the miniature shortbread was more like something from a kindergarten. A massive disappointment, as we left no one checked in on us. I made a point of stopping on my way out again the young lady seemed completely unbothered by our dissatisfaction. This wasn’t cheap, yes we expected more. Wish we just dropped in for a scone and a cuppa."

"First visit in two years. We attended with other friends for a “ wake” for my father in law. We choose the hot buffet which was great. Desserts followed. Extremely well looked after although they were busy with other smaller groups and Sunday lunch. Nothing to much trouble. Up to their usual high standards. Thank you"

"First time visiting since new management. Early supper for NYE. Very friendly service only criticism would be service was too quick but didn't spoil the evening . Starters were tasty if a little small . Superb roast pork and beef for main course."

"When we entered The Woolpack we were warmly greeted by Michaela who then served us our drinks and showed us to our table. There were 4 of us dining at lunchtime today and at least two of us are fussy (yes that would include the author of this review, namely me) however, Sophie, our server, was an absolute star she was extremely helpful and attentive throughout our visit and nothing was too much trouble for her. Our food arrived and was piping hot, delicious and plentiful. So a big thank you to The Woolpack for a lovely and entertaining afternoon."

"NEW As a reasonably regular visitor for lunch we were very disappointed today by the service or rather the lack of service.We waited nearly 40 minutes for our lunch today, in a not very busy pub bar. When we queried the delay we were told it it was due to a rush of people arriving and that meals were prepared in order. No apology for the delay at all. For the record only one couple had arrived after us and they had not only received their meals but had finished and were preparing to leave before we received our orders. Needless to say we will not be visiting again."
