"This little tea room is a blast from the past. You can either have a cake stand with dainties on and tea in a china cup with a saucer or you can have mixed sandwiches. You can also have a hot meal such as chili con carni, lasagne, baked potato with topping of your choice plus salad and a variety of home made cake. It's spotlessly clean with Beautiful damask white table clothes, and each table is set with china cups and saucers and side plates. I have never seen one of these type tea rooms since the 50's when I was in the army and we used to go to a similar place in Liphook in Surrey. I look forward to my cup of tea here every time I am out shopping, but it is getting so popular now that you have to get there a little before lunch time otherwise you have no chance of getting a seat. There is also a wonderful camaraderie atmosphere there even if you don't know the person sitting next to you conversation flows. Pat the hostess and her staff greet you with a friendly smile and are very polite to everyone. If ever you are in Mountain Ash please make the effort and pop in for a quick cuppa and a fancy."

"Visited here on the off-chance on a Saturday afternoon. A lovely warm welcome awaits, always staff on hand and a very busy pub. The restaurant was full so we sat in the bar area. It was slightly too small but didn’t spoil our meal. Service is quick and the food is delicious, presented well and a good selection on the menu. There is lots of character in this pub and it’s very popular. My only negative is the car park. Set on a hill and gravel but has lots of pot holes. Recommend you park walk on the road up to the pub."

"The reality is so far from their description that I’m surprised they haven’t been questioned by trading standards for lying. The waitress bar person (not her fault needs training) had no clue about anything. Took 15 minutes to get a cocktail because she kept running out the back to get information. I asked what the soup of the day was and she didn’t know so had to go and check. Then asked what the curry of the day was and she said “I think it’s chicken”, I replied “chicken what” and she said “chicken curry” . You couldn’t make it up. I then asked if the lamb shank was fresh and local and she said “yes I think so” so that’s what I ordered. The lamb arrived 10 minutes later and was awful. Tough as cow skin and had clearly been frozen and or microwaved. The mash was like school dinner mash and the veg had also been frozen. The following morning we went for breakfast and it was the cheapest nastiness ingredients I’ve tasted. The sausages we wet and were clearly about 10% pork and the bread that had been put next to the toaster was still frozen in the middle. I would rather starve than ever set foot in this place again."

"We don’t come to this restaurant because it’s amazing or because the food is delicious. We come because the service is always excellent and welcoming. We have been served by the same waitress for years who is lovely and chatty. The food came quickly and was very tasty. We witnessed the staff bringing a birthday treat out for a child and they were so energetic and genuinely enthusiastic about it that it was lovely to watch. This restaurant will never win awards but it had had a nice face lift and a luck of paint this time. As usual it was easygoing and relaxing. As usual we’ll be back lots of times in the future."
