"Believe it or not, our recommendation for this gorgeous century inn came from a table mat! My parents have a set of famous English pubs' placemats and this is one of them. As we happened to be in the area, visiting the superb Cotswolds...Distillery, we thought we'd better try it. The Black Horse serves Thai food. A lot of pubs that are converted into restaurants lose their pub character altogether and I was a bit concerned that the Black Horse might be one of them. However, I am delighted to say that the bar and lounge areas still represent a good, traditional English pub with a cosy atmosphere and, by all appearances, a thriving trade entirely separately from the restaurant. The restaurant is housed in a large room with the same old stone and wooden beams as the rest of the inn. The menu is extensive and varied. Prices are fair. Service was very friendly and efficient. All of us found our meals to be absolutely delicious. Oddly, neither desserts nor tea appeared on the menu. Not a big deal but worth bearing in mind. Overall, a really enjoyable lunch. The Black Horse Inn is not on a table mat for nothing!"

"An overnight stay to Stratford-Upon-Avon for a small culture for me and my sis, toni. after a nice day of sightseeing, bus tours, stop in the pubs for a little local fayre, we had to make a decision for dinner. the main kitchen of the opposition. our first choice was the dirty duck. we had heard that this was “the place to go” – so we believed them. they are the tourist crowd. we wandered around the big restaurant, hoping that someone would notice us and sit us. sad, at the end we sat and tried our best to get someone the attention some menus. what we got was a group of people who went to us and said: “Don’t do!” we asked. “What do not do?” “Don’t eat it, its terrible, terrible in fact!” then they showed us some terrible photos of eating. we got up and got out. it was good that no one came to us. the opposition was recommended by the people who go."

"Had a lovely.one night stay on out way to Cropredy. The room was great and we loved the private patio area we could sit out in. The food was great and so was the beer. Made very welcome, will definitely stay again"

"We have been a regular customer for many years. We have never had issues with the service or food. However tonight’s visit was appalling. The service was slow and wasn’t as if it was busy. The starter was great but the rest of the meal was for me not edible. We ask for the veg to be steamed extra as I don’t like raw veg. When the meal arrived there were extra veg and it was raw. My meal was roast turkey with the usual stuffing roast potatoes Yorkshire pudding. The turkey looked like it was processed meat and had blood in it. My wife’s meal was almost as bad. Safe to say we won’t be eating at the Throckmorton Arms again. Which is a pity as we have never had a bad experience there before. I also think £3,50 for a coke is way overpriced."
