"Went to the Dorset Arms on the way back from Sheffield Park. Lovely welcome and good atmosphere. Limited menu and no lunch time items. However, I had the sole slips and my Husband had the barsteak. Couldn't believe how small and pretentous the servings were. No embleshment and nothing to write home about. My fish had little flavour. Over priced and not somewhere I would revisit as consequence. Much better value for money in other local pubs."

"I came here for dinner with a friend... Ordered the venison spring roll starter, absolutely gorgeous! Then had the duck as a main which was described as ‘Vietnamese duck with cashews, soy sauce and side vegetable selection’ thinking it would be stir fried veg or something slightly Asian! Plate arrives and the duck looks lovely, to be followed by a side of Sunday vegetables which included dauphinois potato, roasties, broccoli and carrots?! It was Tuesday so I felt like it was used because it was left over? I simply could not understand how the chef thought that creamy/cheesy potatoes and roast potatoes married with Asian duck? If you don’t know the cuisine, don’t offer/cook it. So when the lady cleared the table I asked what the Sunday veg was about.. and she replied ‘it’s just to complete the meal, they do that with a lot of dishes here’ Which then felt like a very half hearted attempt at a potentially lovely dish."

"We wanted a restaurant to take parents too local to Polegate and with little walking involved. After studying the menu we decided on Simply Seafood in Westham and it was perfect. The restaurant is only open at certain times during the week and would be best to book. It is smallish but beautifully decorated with two different dining areas, the conservatory although we did eat there, overlooked a nicely kept garden. We had a mixture of dishes, Scallops, Prawns, Goats cheese, Gunard, Dover Sole and Steak all cooked to perfection and presented nicely. The staff were attentive but not intrusive to our conversations. We would thoroughly recommend this lovely eatery to others."
